Warga Rusun 609 [Movie Review] | With nothing particularly interesting playing in cinemas at the moment, I decided to give this one a shot.
It's labelled a horror comedy, so let's see what it has in store.

- A remake of the 2003 Thai horror comedy Buppah Rahtree, directed by Yuthlert Sippapak, about a woman betrayed over a bet who returns as a vengeful spirit.
- The film was shot in an actual residential neighbourhood, requiring the crew to work around residents' daily activities and passing trains.
- Interestingly, cast member Papham Ashari once mistook a real funeral, complete with a coffin and yellow flags, for movie props. It turned out to be an actual death in the neighbourhood, forcing the production to adjust its filming schedule.

Life in an apartment block is never short of drama, but for the residents of Rusun 609, things are about to get a whole lot more interesting.
The story centres on Arka, a popular and wealthy university student whose seemingly perfect life takes an unfortunate turn after a foolish bet ruins his relationship with his girlfriend, Bunga. What begins as a silly game ends in heartbreak, but the real nightmare is only just getting started.
Arka's friends challenge him to win over Bunga, the most elusive girl on campus. If he fails, he will have to sponsor their next vacation. Determined not to lose, Arka goes to great lengths to get her attention, even memorising her daily routine and following her around. From leaving roses outside her apartment on Valentine's Day to making sure she gets her favourite chicken porridge, his persistence eventually pays off.
Touched by his efforts, Bunga slowly opens her heart to him. They grow close, and one night, she shares her troubled past. Arka promises to be her safe place, someone she can always count on.
But the romance takes a turn when Arka proudly tells his friends that he has won the bet, unaware that Bunga is listening. Heartbroken, she walks away, though she eventually gives him another chance after his repeated attempts to explain himself.
Things become more complicated when Arka reveals that his father wants to send him overseas. Just then, Bunga tells him she is pregnant, and Arka promises to take responsibility. However, his parents give him an ultimatum: pursue his studies abroad or be disowned.

Caught between family pressure and his promises to Bunga, Arka makes his choice, leaving her alone with unanswered calls and a broken heart.
Not long after their relationship falls apart, Bunga is mysteriously found dead. But she doesn't seem quite ready to leave this world behind. Her spirit returns to haunt Room 609, turning the apartment block into an unexpected playground for supernatural mischief and plenty of frightened residents.
Naturally, the residents are not exactly thrilled about having a ghost for a neighbour. Their already colourful community is thrown into chaos as strange occurrences and unexplained disturbances become part of everyday life. But here is the catch: Bunga is not haunting the place without a reason. She has unfinished business with Arka, particularly a promise he once made that she is determined to see fulfilled.
As if dealing with a restless spirit is not enough, the residents also have another headache to worry about. Pak Bahlil is pushing ahead with plans to relocate the apartment's occupants, threatening to take away the only place many of them call home.
Led by the determined Ibu Damai, the residents find themselves caught between two rather unusual battles. They must figure out how to deal with Bunga's supernatural antics while protecting their homes from the impending relocation. And with rumours of a haunting potentially making the eviction situation even worse, keeping Bunga's presence under wraps becomes a challenge of its own.
But can the residents get rid of their unwanted ghostly neighbour and save their homes before everything spirals completely out of control?
