Masterplan [Movie Review] | Bored out of my mind, I decided to give this one a go, despite the rather brutal online reviews.

- According to The Wall Street Journal, filming at the Louvre required the museum’s cooperation, under a strict agreement not to hint at or disclose its actual security systems.
- The filmmakers had to balance the fictional heist with the Louvre’s real-life security restrictions.
- Italy was a major filming destination. Production spent 36 days in Rome, six days around Lake Como and 12 days in Paris.

There is truly no honour among thieves. And Masterplan takes that idea quite literally.
Jay is an explosives specialist who knows how to get through even the most secure locations, while Chiara is a brilliant hacker capable of breaking into almost any system. Although they live in different countries and have never met, fate brings them together for what appears to be a straightforward robbery in Lake Como, Italy.
But the job is actually a recruitment exercise.
And the one who posted the job is Roger, a master thief who has bigger plans for the pair. Impressed by their abilities, he offers them an opportunity they cannot easily turn down. His pitch, however, comes with a rather unexpected revelation: he claims to be their father.

Naturally, Jay and Chiara are not exactly convinced. But before they can properly process this rather unusual family reunion, Roger reveals his real ambition. He wants the three of them to pull off the ultimate family heist: stealing Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa from the Louvre in Paris.
Roger insists that this is about more than money. He wants to bring his newfound family together, but Jay and Chiara have their own reasons for agreeing to the job. Trust is clearly not something that comes easily in this business.
As the operation unfolds, the lines between family loyalty and criminal ambition become increasingly blurred. And with the world's most recognisable painting at stake, one wrong move could cost them everything.
But when everyone has a secret agenda, who is really stealing from whom and will this family heist go according to plan?
