The Fourth Kind [Movie Review] | When in doubt, turn to TikTok.

And that’s exactly what I did when I was looking for a horror movie to watch. This was one of the recommendations that caught my attention. Now, let’s see if TikTok actually knows what it’s talking about.

Set in Nome, Alaska, the movie follows psychologist Dr. Abbey, a woman already struggling after the death of her husband. While trying to care for her two children, Ashley and Ronnie, Abbey continues working with patients suffering from disturbing and strangely similar experiences.

They all describe the same mysterious white owl appearing while they sleep.

Then things take a much darker turn.

Using hypnotherapy, Abbey attempts to uncover what her patients remember. Instead, she discovers terrifying gaps in their memories, strange voices and a mysterious phrase "Zimabu Eter".

When a specialist in ancient languages examines a recording, he identifies the language as Sumerian, adding another layer of mystery to an already disturbing case.

One patient, Scott, becomes particularly desperate to uncover what happened to him. During hypnosis, something appears to take control of him, leaving Abbey with more questions than answers. Soon, the police become involved and Abbey finds herself under suspicion as events around her begin spiralling out of control.

Then comes the moment that changes everything.

A strange object appears over Abbey’s home while a police officer watches from outside. What follows is captured through distorted footage, frantic radio communications and terrified voices. When the deputies enter the house, Ashley is gone.

As Abbey desperately searches for Ashley, she agrees to undergo hypnosis herself. What she remembers challenges everything she thought she knew about her family, her patients and even her own memories.

But when memories can no longer be trusted, who is actually telling the truth?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:

  • The fact that it is based on an actual event is really disturbing.

What I Don't Like:

  • I have never liked the movies with 'real footage concept'. If it's a documentary movie, that's ok.

Will I Watch It Again: Once is enough.

Overall: 3.5/ 5.0

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
