Hungry [Movie Review] | The trailer instantly caught my attention. Baby hippos may look irresistibly cute, but their mothers are famously among the most dangerous animals in the wild. That alone was enough to convince me to press play.

New Orleans seems like the perfect escape for Sistine, who is desperately trying to move on from the heartbreak of losing her job while coping with her mother's worsening illness. Hoping for a much needed break, she joins her cheerful best friend Hannah on what promises to be the ultimate budget friendly adventure, an alligator watching tour through the mysterious Louisiana bayou. Surrounded by breathtaking swamps, exotic wildlife and endless photo opportunities, it sounds like the perfect way to leave their worries behind.

Joining them on the tour is an unlikely group of strangers. There is Dionne, a wealthy businesswoman used to getting her own way, Sally, a compassionate nurse travelling with her retired firefighter father Tim and her adventurous teenage son Mikey. Leading the excursion is Rodrigo, a seasoned local skipper who knows the bayou like the back of his hand.

The peaceful outing takes a dark turn when greed clouds good judgment. Tempted by the promise of extra cash, Rodrigo steers the boat away from the designated route in search of the legendary giant alligator known as Big Ben. But instead of finding the swamp's most feared predator, the group stumbles upon a gruesome discovery. Big Ben has been viciously killed and the unsettling silence hanging over the bayou suddenly feels far more ominous.

Before anyone can process what they have witnessed, a massive force erupts from beneath the water, violently capsizing their boat.

Stranded deep within the unforgiving swamp with no means of escape, the survivors soon realise they are no longer the hunters, but the hunted. As darkness closes in, an enormous and highly aggressive hippopotamus relentlessly stalks them through the murky waters. Every ripple becomes a warning, every desperate move a gamble for survival.

With injuries mounting, panic spreading and hope fading fast, the group must rely on courage, quick thinking and teamwork if they want any chance of making it out alive.

In a battle between desperate humans and a relentless beast defending its territory, who will survive until the end of the day?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• The new killer in the house - not another alligator or shark movie. 
• I would say the cast is quite good and the action is intense too.

What I Don't Like:

• Not enough blood? Am I too gore?

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it again.
