Thrash [Movie Review] | The title hit my Netflix feed like a dare and I couldn't resist.
Is this a genuine hidden gem or just high-gloss clickbait designed to spike the algorithm?

- Despite the South Carolina setting, the movie was filmed in Melbourne, Australia, featuring an all-Aussie supporting cast (the trio foster siblings).
- Among other reasons the title Thrash is this: Thrashing refers to the violent frenzy sharks use to tear prey apart. It is a totally different movement compared to the surgical strikes of Jaws with a more visceral, frantic chaos.

In the coastal town of Annieville, South Carolina, a hurricane is brewing that is so fierce it threatens to break the scales, pushing beyond a Category 5 into uncharted "Category 6" territory. All residents are advised to evacuate or look for higher grounds. Some didn't take heed - just because they don't event care or unlucky enough to have stranded where they were.
As the levees shatter, the ocean doesn't just visit the streets. The ocean claims them, bringing a shiver of blood-craving bull sharks into the very living rooms of those left behind.
Marine researcher Dale Edwards reads the sharks' erratic movements like a dark omen. Out at sea, he notices the quiet signals of something deeper. It reflects a shift in the predatory balance that mirrors the chaos on land. His expertise tells him the surging water carries a lethal threat, but his heart is miles away with his niece, Dakota. His expertise tells him the water carries a lethal threat, made worse by the realization that a massive, pregnant Great White he’s been tracking has followed the surge into town, accompanied by a pack of frenzied bull sharks.

Dakota is a young woman trapped by an agoraphobia so deep she remains locked indoors even as the world outside begins to collapse. Her fear has long kept her a prisoner of her own home, but as the Atlantic surges through her floorboards, she is forced to confront a terror far more physical than her anxiety.
Nearby, Lisa Fields faces a terrifying irony. Nine months pregnant and recently abandoned, she finds herself stranded in her car after the interstate closes, stuck on the wrong side of the town’s failing defenses. As a ruptured meat truck nearby spills its contents into the rising flood, the water around her becomes a crimson lure. Lisa, who once considered a peaceful water birth, now finds herself submerged in a literal hunting ground, where the scent of blood and the rising tide turn her vehicle into a fragile cage.
Meanwhile, the Olsen siblings—Ron, Dee, and Will—are left at the mercy of their neglectful foster father, Billy. He dismisses the sirens as "a little bit of weather" until the reinforced glass shatters, turning their home into an aquarium. With their foster parents becoming little more than shark bait, the children are left alone on an island of furniture, surrounded by circling dorsal fins.
As Annieville vanishes beneath the waves, where can you hide when the ocean’s apex predators swim in your living room?

MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- Certainly made me a bit claustrophobic when you see sharks swimming in your living room.
What I Don't Like:
- Can't help but to compare this one to Crawl.
- The CGIs is not that crisp.
- Feels rushed and not enough character development.
Will I Watch It Again: I don't think so.
Overall: 3.5/ 5.0
