Gayong 2 [Movie Review] | The movie is based on the late Datuk Meor Abdul Rahman (ADMAR), founder of the Malaysian Silat Gayong Organization life dedication to the growth of Silat Gayong in the region.
A fun fact that I'm sure most of us didn't realise is that there are around 350 types of silat in the world. And the most well-known silat style in Malaysia is Silat Gayong.
Now you know.

Following the end of the Japanese occupation, Meor migrates to Singapore to serve as a Special Branch officer. Although the foreign invaders have left, a new domestic threat spreads through the city like wildfire: the opium trade. Criminal syndicates have seized the opportunity to thrive, extorting protection money from local citizens and terrorizing those who refuse to pay.
The tension boils over at a local night market when a gang begins harassing hawkers. Mat, who is accompanying Mayang, attempts to intervene when a gangster turns violent. However, Mat is quickly overpowered. Just as a gangster raises an axe to strike him, Meor arrives in the nick of time. A fierce scuffle ensues, and Meor successfully subdues the entire group, hauling them off to the lock-up.
The next morning, Meor arrives at the station to find the cells empty. Ali, a fellow officer, informs him that Malcolm—a corrupt cop on the take—visited the station and ordered the prisoners' release. In exchange for bribes, Malcolm provides the gangs with immunity and tips them off about upcoming raids.

Determined to clean up the force, Meor requests an internal investigation into Malcolm. His superior reluctantly agrees, pairing him with a new assistant: Fauzi, a fresh graduate from Scotland Yard. Fauzi is a modern tactician who trusts his firearm far more than traditional Silat—at least until Meor proves the effectiveness of the ancient art.
While the investigation ramps up, Fauzi helps Mat prepare for his police entrance examinations, as Mat seeks a stable future with Mayang. Despite the growing danger, Meor finds strength at home; when he fears his mission might endanger his family, his wife, Chom, reassures him that standing against corruption is the only honorable path forward.
In the modern world, what must be protected and what must adapt?

MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- I know for a fact that I would love anything with Beto and Nabila in it. You can call it bias but these two great actors always brought their best game in their art.
- Women warriors! I love! I want them to be given more airtime. Those fighting scenes with hairpins and a weaponised fan - EPIC!
- I would say a great cast!
What I Don't Like:
- Too short
- I detected some CGI glitches but that did not scar the movie's performance.
Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it again.
Overall: 4.7/ 5.0
