Loving Adults [Movie Review] | I watched the movie after it was recommended on an FB page.

The trailer instantly caught my attention and set high expectations. The only question was whether the film could truly deliver on what it promised.

Holger, a police commissioner with decades of cases behind him, tells his daughter a story on the eve of her wedding. It is not a warning wrapped in advice, but something heavier. One of his unsolved cases. He believes he knows what truly happened, yet knowing and proving are very different things.

It is the story of Christian and Leonora Holm, a marriage that looked ordinary, respectable, even enviable, until the cracks began to show.

Christian worked in construction, building structures that outlasted conversations. Leonora stayed home, her violin packed away after their son Johan became ill. Her career faded quietly as hospital corridors replaced concert halls. Years later, Johan recovered. Graduation approached. Life seemed ready to move forward again. 

At 4 am, Christian’s phone buzzed. He claimed it was from his friend Peter. When Leonora asked to see it, he smashed the phone against the wall. The screen shattered and so did the last of Leonora’s trust. 

She searched online and found Xenia, a young architect working closely with Christian. At an office party, Leonora discovered the truth in the most brutal way possible: Christian and Xenia together in his office. Xenia met Leonora’s eyes without shame.

Christian tried to leave the marriage. Leonora stopped him with a threat. She knew about the money he had stolen from his company to pay for Johan’s treatments. If he did not end the affair, she would expose him. Christian searched for leverage of his own and uncovered a secret from Leonora’s youth. Mike, her old boyfriend, had died after falling from a cliff. When Christian accused her, Leonora did not deny it. She demanded he end things with Xenia immediately.

He refused. 

That night, Christian waited along Leonora’s running route and drove a company van into a woman in the dark. When he returned home, Leonora arrived alive. She had taken a different path. Christian realized too late what he had done.

How will Christian maneuver the current path that his marriage is heading?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• I loved the plot with twists after twists. I was literally hooked.
• Beautiful performance by the cast. 

What I Don't Like:

• When there are too many twists and subplots in a movie, one tends to get confused.

Will I Watch It Again: Sure, I would.
