Suzzanna: Santet Dosa di Atas Dosa [Movie Review] | I still remember being terrified of the old Suzzanna films. Now, a little older and with Luna Maya taking on the iconic role, I figured it was finally time to find out for myself whether they are really as scary as I remembered.

- Originally title called "Suzzanna: Santet Ilmu Pelebur Nyawa".
- Despite carrying the iconic Suzzanna name, this is not a remake of any of the legendary actress's classic films. Instead, it tells a brand new story inspired by her horror legacy, with Santet taking centre stage.
- Unlike the previous reboots, Suzzanna remains alive for most of the film, with the story focusing on her descent into black magic rather than becoming a vengeful ghost.

Suzzanna is a kind hearted young woman who lives a simple life with her parents in the remote village of Karang Setan. The entire community lives under the ruthless rule of Bisman, a cruel village chief who keeps the villagers trapped in impossible debt while maintaining his power through fear, violence and intimidation. With no one willing or able to challenge him, the people have long accepted their fate.
Obsessed with making Suzzanna his second wife, Bisman relentlessly pursues her with lavish gifts and promises of wealth. Suzzanna rejects every advance, refusing to surrender to a man she neither loves nor trusts.
Everything changes when Suzzanna's father dares to oppose Bisman's growing grip on the village. His courage comes at a terrible price as he falls victim to a deadly act of black magic. His sudden death leaves Suzzanna devastated, turning her grief into an all consuming desire for revenge.
Before long, Bisman's own wife secretly approaches Suzzanna and reveals the horrifying truth behind her father's death. Their conversation is abruptly interrupted when Bisman's henchmen arrive to force her back to the village. In the chaos that follows, Bisman's wife is accidentally killed. Realising that Suzzanna is now the only witness, the thugs relentlessly pursue her through the forest. Desperate to escape, she plunges from a cliff into a raging river.

She is rescued by Pramuja, a compassionate young man who takes her to the home of his aunt, Nyi Gayatri, where she slowly recovers. Unknown to Pramuja, his aunt is a practitioner of black magic, a path he strongly condemns because of his unwavering faith.
Consumed by vengeance, Suzzanna chooses to learn the forbidden art of Santet from Nyi Gayatri, believing that only darkness can defeat darkness. But every spell she masters comes at a cost, slowly eroding the compassion that once defined her. As her powers grow, she discovers that Bisman's supernatural strength is far greater than she ever imagined, making her quest for revenge even more dangerous.
Caught between the darkness that fuels her vengeance and the compassion awakened by Pramuja, Suzzanna faces a choice that could determine not only her future, but also her very soul.
Will revenge consume Suzzanna completely or will love prove powerful enough to break the cycle of darkness?
