Good Fortune [Movie Review] | Just for a change of vibe, I decided to watch this one. Mainly because I wanted to see Keanu Reeves in a completely different setting.
Could he actually pull off a comedy role? I just had to find out.

- The salsa scene was a late addition, meant to lighten the film’s heavier themes and it became a fan favorite, symbolizing joy, acceptance and humanity.
- Despite its rich story and visual effects, the movie was impressively filmed in just 32 days, with night shoots adding to its dreamy, reflective vibe.

Gabriel ranks low in the angelic hierarchy, and his job is simple: to save humans from texting and driving accidents. But deep down, he longs for something more meaningful which is to save lost souls. Unfortunately, that sacred duty belongs to another angel, Azrael.
One day, Gabriel rescues Arj, though the struggling documentarian has no idea. Arj is hustling through life, juggling odd jobs, sleeping in his car and barely scraping by. Something about this young man intrigues Gabriel, so he keeps watching from the sidelines as Arj’s life begins to spiral.
Arj soon starts dating Elena, a passionate coworker leading a union movement at their workplace. Things seem to look up when he impresses Jeff, a wealthy tech investor, and lands a job as his assistant. For the first time in a while, Arj sleeps in a real bed in a motel, but it’s still a step up. However, one reckless mistake sends him crashing back to rock bottom. Fired, broke and back in his car, Arj’s dreams fall apart.

When Arj is banned from his gig app and loses everything, Gabriel can’t bear to watch anymore. He reveals himself, offering Arj a glimpse of his future and a chance to reignite hope. But Arj sees only emptiness. Determined to prove that success doesn’t equal happiness, Gabriel takes a risky step — he swaps Arj’s life with Jeff’s.
To Gabriel’s disappointment, the plan backfires. Arj thrives in Jeff’s body and revels in the luxury that wealth brings. Instead of learning humility, he embraces greed.
When Gabriel’s rebellion is exposed, his superior, Martha, strips him of his wings and powers, leaving him half-human. Now grounded, Gabriel can only watch helplessly as Arj’s arrogance costs him Elena’s love and eventually his life, after a reckless text leads to a tragic crash.
Meanwhile, Gabriel, now an angel without wings, and Jeff, living in poverty, discover the raw truth of survival and hardship. Gabriel tells the two men that they can only return to their old lives when they both choose to, not out of guilt or desperation, but from a genuine desire to change.
What if an angel’s attempt to help you ends up destroying your life?

MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- Keanu actually nailed this one.
- With such cast, it was a good movie to watch and make you think and count your blessings.
What I Don't Like:
- Some characters are not fully developed.
- Have the Freaky Friday's vibe - though that's not a bad point - it's just not that fresh.
Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it again.
Overall: 4.5/ 5.0
