Together [Movie Review] | Intrigued by the poster, I decided to watch the movie. 

And boy, how I wish I had not made that decision.

• Dave and Alison are real life couple - been married since 2017. Dave and Alison wore the fused-arm prosthetic for hours, even taking bathroom breaks together between takes.

Millie thought moving to the countryside would be the fresh start she and her long-time boyfriend, Tim, needed. She had landed a teaching job, Tim was still chasing his dream of becoming a musician, and perhaps, with the move, they’d finally settle down. 

But things were complicated. Tim had been distant ever since losing his parents, and when Millie nervously proposed to him at their going-away party, his awkward non-answer left her humiliated.

Their new beginning took a bizarre turn during a rainy-day hike when they slipped into a hidden cave. Stranded overnight, Tim drank from an underground pool and started recalling horrifying memories of his mother and father. By morning, the pair discovered their legs had mysteriously stuck together. They laughed it off, but it was only the beginning.

Tim began having strange episodes where his body literally pulling toward Millie as if magnetized. Enter Jamie, Millie’s friendly new co-worker, who dropped by for dinner. Over casual conversation, Jamie revealed the cave had once been a New Age church. Millie brushed it off as harmless history until the day Tim showed up at her school in the middle of an episode.

One heated bathroom confrontation later, the couple found themselves physically fused in the most intimate way possible. They painfully separated, only for Jamie to catch them in the act. 

Later, over an awkward apology visit, Jamie told Millie about Aristophanes’ theory that we’re all searching for our “other half.” He spoke wistfully of his late husband.

Meanwhile, Tim discovered another couple had recently vanished and last seen at that same cave. As his paranoia grew, so did the physical pull between him and Millie. One night, their arms fused together in a grotesque contortion. Desperate, they literally sawed themselves free. But Tim couldn’t resist returning to the cave, where he found the missing couple horribly merged into a single, half-dead creature.

Millie, back at Jamie’s, stumbled upon a chilling wedding tape which is actually a ritual video showing two men willingly fusing into one. Jamie confessed that he was the result of that fusion—and urged Millie to join Tim in “becoming whole”. Of course, she ran.

Will she be able to run from her other half? 

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• It is a real horror. You'll not find jumpscare here
• Great cast and delivery. 
• It is gory. And please do not watch with minors. 
• I thought The Substance was gory - this one is even more than that!

What I Don't Like:

• Some scenes are literally to dark to watch anything.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I would.
