- Luna Maya wasn’t the first pick for Nyai but she owned the role with chilling intensity.
- Blends horror and heist with eerie Indonesian urban legends — including bloodthirsty concubines and supernatural guardians!

- Luna Maya wore intricate snake-scale prosthetics on her face and neck—taking two hours to apply each time.

The movie begins with a narration about men seeking power and wealth, who often take a concubine from another realm. To marry one, one has to bring lots of gold and a young boy as dowry. The concubine loves gold and she needs the blood of the young boy to stay young. If all requirements are met, the men will acquire all they wish for.
Otto is a former soldier who’s just been released from prison. He wants a fresh start, but life doesn’t give him a break. Things go from bad to worse when he discovers that his daughter, Merry, has secretly married Baim, a taxi driver Otto believes has no real future. With financial stress mounting, Otto makes a desperate decision: to lead a robbery.

Baim's father is ailing. To move on peacefully, he has to pass on his magical items to Baim. After Baim willingly receives the items, his father moves on almost immediately.
Otto assembles a small crew of his old comrades, Salman, Reza, and Baim himself (who has to take over his father's place after the old man passed away) to hit the jackpot. Turns out that Baim's father was Otto's old buddy and has been taking care of Otto's family while he was incarcerated.
Their target this time is a luxurious home of a mysterious and wealthy woman named Nyai, rumored to be a former Dutch colonial official’s mistress. Word has it the house is full of hidden treasures, cash, and valuables waiting to be taken.

Baim is supposed to be the getaway driver while the other three search the mansion. But once they step into Nyai’s mansion, things take a dark and terrifying turn.
Once inside, the three decide to split so they can cover more areas quickly. Instead of finding gold, they find something else - something unnatural. The house is too quiet. The air is thick with the scent of incense, and strange whispers echo through the halls. Shadows move when no one’s watching. Figures appear.
And worst of all, Nyai is no ordinary woman. She’s a mystical figure believed to have supernatural control over the Southern Coast. Her gaze alone sends chills, and her presence guards the house with a terrifying, otherworldly force.
Who is Nyai? What happens when legends aren’t just stories and the past comes to claim you?

MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- It's funny and scary at the same time.
- Some gore scenes are too real.
- Great cast!
What I Don't Like:
- CGI is a bit unreal - especially when Nyai appears as a huge snake.
- The story gets a little muddy towards the end.
Will I Watch It Again: I don't mind watching it again.
Overall: 4.1/ 5.0
