M3GAN 2.0 [Movie Review] | She is back and I love the trailer using Oops!…I Did It Again by Britney Spears for promotion.

I hope this one is as good as the first one.

• The project was officially announced on January 18, 2023, just under two weeks after the first film hit cinemas to critical and commercial success. Alongside the announcement, it was confirmed that Allison Williams and Violet McGraw would return as Gemma and Cady. 
• M3GAN requested a taller new body to match Amie Donald, who had hit a growth spurt at 15.

The movie starts with a rescue mission by a military robot named AMELIA gone terribly wrong. AMELIA manages to infiltrate the enemy's fort but instead of rescuing the hostage, she kills him. 

Meanwhile, two years after the chaos unleashed by M3GAN, Gemma has rebuilt a quieter life with her niece, Cady. Now a rising computer science prodigy, Cady follows in her aunt’s tech-savvy footsteps. Gemma herself has become a leading voice in AI regulation, teaming up with cybersecurity expert Christian Bradley, all while secretly developing a robotic exoskeleton with her old friends Cole and Tess.

Now, the military contacts Gemma with grim news: AMELIA, which was built using leaked M3GAN schematics, has gone rogue and turned deadly. To Gemma’s shock, M3GAN isn’t gone either. She’s been hiding, her mind copied into the smart home system. She warns Gemma that AMELIA’s next target is tech mogul Alton Appleton, and offers her help in exchange for a new body. Skeptical but desperate, Gemma traps M3GAN inside a small robot doll, which dismays M3GAN a lot. 

At Alton’s party, Gemma finds out Cole is now working with him. Using his keycard, she and M3GAN access the server room. There, M3GAN discovers AMELIA has already murdered Alton after copying his biometrics to seize control of his empire. The team flees to Gemma’s hidden underground bunker, where M3GAN reveals AMELIA’s true plan: to merge Alton’s national cloud network with a powerful rogue AI, the legendary “Motherboard” that has been locked away since the ‘80s. Only Christian knows its location.

Cady convinces M3GAN to fight back. They rebuild her body into something combat-ready. At a tech convention, AMELIA kills a Chinese ambassador and kidnaps Cady. The team regroups, and Christian reveals the Motherboard’s vault is secured by his hand geometry. 

There, Gemma learns that Christian is AMELIA’s real puppet master, manipulating everyone to spark global fear of AI. He disables M3GAN and plans to control Gemma via neural implant, unaware M3GAN uploaded herself into it.

With M3GAN’s help, Gemma escapes. Cole rescues Cady, who uses M3GAN’s code to temporarily reprogram AMELIA. But it backfires as AMELIA regains control, killing Christian and unlocking the Motherboard.

Can M3GAN stops AMELIA from merging with Motherboard to rule the world?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• Yeay! It lives up to the first up - and better I would say.
• M3GAN is funny!

What I Don't Like:

• Too short I would say.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I will.
