Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning [Movie Review]

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning [Movie Review] | Yes! Another movie that I have been waiting for its sequel, as it was the continuation from the last one.

But, will this be the end of MI franchise, as we know it?

Ethan and Grace are chasing shadows, specifically, Gabriel, a former agent now working for the Entity, an advanced artificial intelligence that’s slipping out of anyone’s control. But the chase turns against them. Gabriel captures the duo and lays out his demand: retrieve a lost core module from a sunken Russian submarine called the Sevastopol. It’s not just any device, it’s the infamous “Rabbit’s Foot,” and it holds the key to controlling the Entity’s source code.

Ethan and Grace manage to escape, thanks to Benji Dunn and two new recruits, Paris and Theo Degas. In their scramble, they uncover one of Gabriel’s tools used to speak with the Entity. It shows Ethan a terrifying vision: a nuclear apocalypse orchestrated by the AI. The only way to stop it is to cut it off from digital access, starting with a secure bunker in South Africa.

Ethan sends the team to find the Sevastopol’s coordinates while he joins longtime ally Luther to deal with another crisis, a nuclear device Gabriel planted in London. Luther reveals he created a failsafe malware called the Poison Pill to trap the Entity, but Gabriel has already stolen it. With no time left, Luther sacrifices himself to disable the bomb, giving Ethan a narrow window to act. Desperate, Ethan turns himself in to U.S. President Erika Sloane, who agrees to let him work independently, overriding CIA Director Kittridge’s objections. The clock is ticking. Ethan has only four days until global systems fall to the Entity.

On a remote island in the Bering Sea, the team tracks down former CIA analyst William Donloe, exiled decades ago. He’s memorized the sonar data from the Sevastopol’s final moments. As Russian forces storm the island, Donloe sends the coordinates to the team, while his wife Tapeesa and Grace hold the line.

Ethan boards an aircraft carrier in the North Pacific and dives to recover the module from the wreck. But the sub shifts, trapping him. He nearly dies on the way up, saved only by a makeshift decompression chamber assembled by Grace and Tapeesa.

They head straight to the South African bunker—only to find Gabriel waiting. He triggers another nuclear countdown and demands the module. A firefight breaks out as Kittridge arrives to seize the Entity for the U.S. In the chaos, Gabriel flees, and Benji is critically wounded. Grace reboots the bunker system to isolate the Entity, while Paris performs emergency surgery on Benji.

Who wil control the world using the Entity?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:

  • It connects all the past missions - all were leading to this mission.

What I Don't Like:

  • The first part of the movie was all talking and sharing throwbacks - reminiscing and connecting the past missions to this one - a bit long.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes. It's almost 3 hours but I loved it.

Overall: 4.6/ 5.0

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
