Thanksgiving [Movie Review]

Thanksgiving [Movie Review] | I think this one misses the train for the Halloween movies. But the trailer seems interesting, yet somehow reminds me of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream series.

So, I went in with no expectation whatsoever.

It was Thanksgiving in Plymouth and Righmart is having a Black Friday sale. Mitch, the store manager was about to have his family Thanksgiving dinner when Eric, the town's sheriff arrives and joins them for dinner. Suddenly, Mitch is wanted at the store as the manager on duty goes AWOL and needs immediate replacement.

Meanwhile, the Wrights are also having their Thanksgiving dinner. Jessica is not on a good term with her stepmother. After the dinner, Jessica along with Bobby, her boyfriend and several other friends make their way to the cinema. Along the way, Evan, one of the friends decide to stop at the Rightmart and join in the Black Friday sale to get himself a new phone. Since Jessica's father own the store, Jessica lead the group in via the side door, away from the crowd that is gathering outside the store, frantically waiting to get into the store. When t he crowd sees the kids inside, and in a frenzy, stampedes into the store, resulting to multiple deaths, including Mitch's wife.

A year later, Rightmart is preparing for another Black Friday sale, inspite of protests lead by Mitch.

Jessica is no longer with Bobby as Bobby leaves town after the incident that left him with a broken wrist. Jessica is now with Ryan, even though her  friends - Evan, Gabby, Scuba and Yulia thinks little of him.

When an instagram post of a Thanksgiving table emerges and tags their name on it, the teenagers feel a little scared but think little about it. Bobby is back in town and realises that a lot has change since he leaves.

When Lizzie, a waitress at the local diner, is killed and her lower part of the body puts on the Rightmart signage, the police investigates and manages to identify the killer - a person in black clothing wearing a John Carver mask. When everybody realises that Lizzie was also a part of the frenzy stampede at Rightmart a year ago, everyone believes that the killer is targeting everyone involved in stampede.

The 'John Carver' killer kills more people and abducts Jessica' friends. In order to capture the killer, Jessica and her family agrees to appear on a float during the Thanksgiving parade. John Carver somehow knows about their plan and decapitates a turkey mascot, in the middle of the parade. The crowd went panic. The middle of the panic, John Carver kidnaps Jessica and Scuba.

With her stepmother serves as a turkey, with no head in the middle of the Thanksgiving table, now the party in complete and Johin Carver will start serving the celebration dishes to everyone present, dead and alive alike.

Why is John Carver targeting all these people? Will there be leftover?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.0/ 5.0 No new recipe in this one. As I mentioned, I sensed vibes from I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream here and there throughout the movie.

Not the strongest script. Still enjoyable to watch. Some scenes are bloody and gory.

Cast: 4.0/ 5.0 Not the strongest character for Patrick. The others delivered OK, I assumed the script made them delivered as such.

Will I Watch It Again: I probably would.

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
