Dr. Anna Fox is an agoraphobic child psychologist who lives alone in a huge mansion. Her family (husband and daughter) lives separately and they talk to each other on a daily basis - her husband asking how she is and whether she has taken her meds.
Dr. Anna sublets her basement to David and David helps with her household chores such as taking out trash etc.
When a family moves in across of her unit, she tells her husband that the family is so white and the neighbourhood is becoming too white. Her husband jokingly advises her not to peep at people's life or she will be in trouble.
Ethan, the kid from across her home, comes knocking at her home to deliver a gift from his mother. Dr. Anna lets him in and they talk. She realises that Ethan is allergic to Punch, her cat.
One night during Halloween, kids were throwing eggs at her house and Dr. Anna wants to stop them. She tries to come out of her house and faints, before a lady assists her to come inside her house again. Then she finds out that the lady is Ethan's mother and they had a good time knowing each other better.
The next time she peeps at the perfect picture family across her house, she witnesses Ethan's mother, whom she called Jane Russell, being stabbed and she immediately called 911. But when the family and the police comes over, it was a different Jane Russell and not the lady that she had drinks nights before.
Her world starts crumbling down - plus that she is on medication makes others think that she was hallucinating and imagining things about the murder of Jane Russell.
Even Ethan distances himself from her. And when Alistair slaps Ethan when he sees Ethan talks to Dr. Anna in her house, Dr. Anna is determined that Ethan is being abused by his father and determined to help him.
But are these incidents real or is Dr. Anna just imagining them?
MY REVIEW
Plot: 4.95/ 5.0 Oh my Gucci! The plot is the best. I thought I know the plot is during the second part of the movie, and then when the third scenes rolled out, I was taken aback!
Whoa! Mind-blowing to me.
Cast: 4.7/ 5.0 Even though Julianne Moore was only on a few scenes but she was good. Amy Adams portrays the estranged doctor beautifully!
Thumbs up to all actors!
Will I watch it again: YES!
The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
