Five Asian Flavours, One Memorable Ramadan Night @ MiCasa All Suite Hotel [Ramadan Review]

Five Asian Flavours, One Memorable Ramadan Night @ MiCasa All Suite Hotel [Ramadan Review] | I always look forward to Ramadan buffet season, when each eatery reveals its own take on comfort, flavour and tradition. And quietly, almost unconsciously, I ask myself the same question every year: how will they surpass last year’s feast?

As for me, Ramadan always feels more meaningful to me when the table is full and time slows just enough for conversation, laughter and shared plates. This year, I found that feeling at MiCasa All Suite Hotel, where the Ramadan buffet leans into comfort, heritage and generous Asian flavours.

This year, MiCasa All Suite Hotel draws its theme from Sajian 5 Rasa, a lively mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thailand and Indonesian influences.

Under the direction of Chef Adrian, the spread feels thoughtful rather than overwhelming. What stood out to me most was how familiar dishes were allowed to shine, elevated through a collaboration with Mahsuri Dagang Sdn Bhd. Their spices and sauces give the food depth without overpowering it.

As we began the Ramadan review, I saw friends thronging towards the appetisers. Kerabu Maggi and Kerabu Kerang Tauge had that addictive balance of heat and acidity, while Thai Som Tam and Gado Gado brought freshness and creaminess to the table. I love spicy and strong flavors, but my stomach always disagrees with me, so I had all of them moderately.

From there, the mains pulled me in completely. Pad Kra Pao Beef delivered bold savoury notes, Lamb Madras was rich and aromatic, and Aloo Masala felt like pure comfort in a bowl. Blame it on my tongue, as I loved the Pad Kra Pao Beed the most.

I saw a few friends were literally going back for seconds (or thirds as I lost count) for the hearty and satisfying Gearbox Soup. I was also glad to see the Ocean of Seafood making a return. I alternated between the Crab Meat and Corn Cream Soup and the Pumpkin and Spinach Soup, both gentle and warming to the stomach. The Live Carving Station was hard to miss as there was always a queue waiting for the freshly grilled lamb seasoned in Mahsuri marinades and the distinct flavours of the hotel’s special Locing Thai.

I love watching roti canai and roti boom being prepared fresh at the live stations. Oh, don't forget to get the chicken murtabak - it was one of my personal highlights. In between, I kept reaching for the cucur bakwan and pisang goreng, crisp on the outside and dangerously easy to snack on. I also lost count how many times I returned to the counter.

As it is, the meal is not complete without dessert. Assorted kuih lined the counter, while ABC and cendol offered cooling relief. The mango sticky rice was indulgent without being too heavy and I ended my meal with a glass of teh tarik and chilled sea coconut.

What I appreciated most was the setting. The dining space is spacious and relaxed, making it easy to linger with family and friends. It is the kind of place where conversations stretch a little longer and the spirit of Ramadan feels quietly present.

For me, this was less about a buffet and more about a shared Ramadan moment, one made warmer and more memorable by honest flavours and a welcoming table.
