- The film, inspired by a true story from the hit Indonesian horror podcast Lentera Malam, marks Adriano Rudiman’s thrilling feature directorial debut.

Saras and Yudhis live modestly with their father, running a small car wash after their restaurant and mini market went bankrupt. Life is tough, but they find comfort in their quiet routine. Until one morning, over breakfast, their father calmly says, “When I die, bury me in Lamongan, my hometown. And make sure it’s done according to Islamic rites.”
They laugh it off, thinking he’s being dramatic. After all, they’re Muslims so of course, he’ll be buried properly.
That evening, they return home to find their father lying motionless on the floor. Grief consumes them, but they move forward with the tahlil, planning to bury him beside their late mother in Surabaya, against his final wish.

When their uncle arrives and reminds them of their father’s request, Saras refuses. She just wants it over with. But in the middle of the prayers, something horrifying happens. The body twitches. His eyes open. And with a voice that chills everyone to the bone, he whispers, “One lives, one dies,” before falling still again.
By morning, the body is gone. It’s later found in Lamongan, exactly where he wanted to be.
As the siblings travel there, more questions arise. Their uncle insists the burial must happen on a Friday Kliwon, a date tied to a dark family tradition. Saras refuses to believe it, but Yudhis knows better. Something from their bloodline, something old and vengeful, has awakened.
And this time, it won’t rest until the truth and the curse are finally unearthed.
Will Saras and Yudhis end the terror haunting them or will they be dragged into the dark karma of their father’s past?

MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- Of late, I love that the horror movies include moral, family and social issues in it. This one included.
- For those who don't like a lot of jumpscares, this one for you.
What I Don't Like:
- The last part seems rushed.
Will I Watch It Again: I probably would, but not in my top choices.
Overall: 3.8/ 5.0
