An Amazing Legendary Spa Experience @ Sembunyi Spa

I love November because it is Rawlins' birthday month. And this year, as it is my 21st birthday (for more than 10 years in a row I am 21 years old), I am blessed to have been receiving lots and lots of prizes! There are contests where I won amazing prizes such as a sponsored trip to Siem Reap (will be writing about the trip soon), best-dressed contests, Watsons gifts and a staycation in the wonderful and serene Cyberview Resort & Spa!

Thanks to Cyberview Resort & Spa for the amazing staycation ever! I arrived in the evening and upon checking in, Ms Sooky greeted me and brought me straight to Sembunyi Spa Wow! Sembunyi sounds so mysterious, right. Sembunyi means hidden in Bahasa Malaysia. But no, the spa is not hidden at all. It is located just across the lobby of Cyberview Resort and Spa.

It offers a myriad of traditional Asean style body treatments, facials and massage or works out in the gym, swims in the lap pool, unwinds in the hot jacuzzi, steam room and sauna to rejuvenate in the cold dip. Inspired by Indo- Malay and Sino cultures, Sembunyi Spa has created wellness and beauty treatments encompassing the rich heritage traditions of the region.
The concept of Sembunyi Spa lies on being a stand-alone wellness haven within the resort compound unlike the normal spas being attached to the hotel building. The experience at Sembuyi Spa is unique with the whole spa overlooking the sanctuary of peacefulness (luscious greenery & water calming scenery) which play the essence of wellness expectation. I have always loved the smell of spa facilities - the essential oils and the soothing smell of other spices used are always relaxing to me. The staff, Shahrul Nizam greeted me with smiles and seated me with a cup of ginger tea. 

He then explained to me some specialities of the house and what service that I will be receiving.
Mind you, this is my very first spa experience as I am a very ticklish person and I don't like people touching me. I am also a very body-conscious person - I don't like showing my body to the public as I have scars from my younger years. That is why I am always clad in long-sleeve shirts and never wear shorts. Hahaha.
Even when I visit Bangkok (which is quite a lot), I have never gone for spa/ massage treatment. But during my very last trip to Bangkok, after a whole day walking in Chatuchak, I finally succumbed to my friends' request to have a foot massage session in the market. Reluctant at first and then I found out, I fall asleep during the 40 minutes foot massage. It was so relaxing.
So, this time around at Sembunyi Spa, I will be getting a whole-body massage. Oh dear. What have I got myself into?

Shahrul Nizam explained that I will be getting the Maha Brata Experience which is a Sembunyi Spa signature treatment. During the whole 90-minute treatment, I will be experiencing a unique massage treatment that originated from Bali and uses grounded 'Kemiri' oil - Buah Keras or Candlenut. The combination of the touch and the fatty acids of Kemiri which has a high percentage of palmitic, stearic and oleic acids will give skin a healthy glow leaving it soft and smooth.
Again, I keep thinking to myself 'Am I ready to let someone massage my body, in my birthday suit?' Haha.  But this is #RawlinsGLAM who believes in doing everything once.
While waiting for my treatment, I walked around the compound, I found out that the Asean themed spa houses four facility. The reception/ fitness facility offers the state-of-the-art workout experience with a full garden view. The other two facilities are for man and ladies each, which houses the locker rooms with steam, sauna, hot jacuzzi and ice-cold plunge pool. The last facility houses seven treatment rooms, including three with private baths. On the second level of this facility, there's an exclusive Mayang Sari Suite, a treatment room exclusively for couples. There is also Tasik Suite, the latest addition which offers a luxurious treatment for four people at one time. Talk about accommodating!

I walked around the facility while waiting for my treatment room to be prepared. And then I decided to give the hot jacuzzi a try. Shahrul Nizam gave me a disposable underwear to wear so that my clothes will still be dry after the dip. He gave me a Sembunyi Spa robe to wear too. I disrobed, locked my belongings in the locker room and went straight to the hot jacuzzi.

I gotta say, I was loving my hot dip there - as there is a huge glass window overlooking the lake. The whole experience in the hot jacuzzi, a good 30 minutes of it, certainly calms me down.
'The treatment room is ready for your Sir' called Shahrul. I was introduced to Komang, a young lady who is trained in massage.  In Iban, Komang means A Queen of astounding beauty. I told her the meaning of her name and she just smiled with thanks.

Upon entering the treatment room, I can tell that I will be pampered to the max. In the room, there were two massage beds and a tub where I assumed all the mandi lulur and mandi bunga will be done. 
As we are not allowed to take pictures while receiving the treatment, I can only assure you of one thing about it. It was really a treatment for my mind, body and soul. The treatment relaxes my nerves and body, it soothes my skin and my soul was rejuvenated after the treatment ended. Komang was very professional and polite while massaging all the stress away from my body. For the whole 90-minutes experience, I would say - it was worth every penny as you will feel light and anew after the pampering treatment. And at certain points, I think I dozed off too. Haha.
Will I come again for the treatment? Definitely, as I HAVE TO pamper myself every now and then (Rawlins, you do not need a reason to go to spa haha). And Sembunyi Spa is just minutes away from my place, so it wouldn't be a hassle for me to come over and relieve all the stress away.
