Top 5 Restaurants in KL You Must Check Out

Top 5 Restaurants in KL You Must Check Out | One of the most beloved characters of Malaysia is the variety of our food - because of the harmonic multi-cultural society on our beloved land. And we Malaysians will fight tooth and nails over the beloved cuisines.

Since I'm residing in Klang Valley, I will share with y'all Top 5 Restaurants in Kuala Lumpur that is worth visiting (based on some research that I've done via Mr Google). The best thing about Kuala Lumpur is it is a melting pot of cultures and cuisines where one will be able to find Malay, Malaysian-Chinese, Indian, French, Italian, Syrian, Thai, Sri Lankan food and many more.

Here is the list, not in any particular order. By visiting all these locations, you'll be able to further enjoy Kuala Lumpur without breaking the bank account.

1) Bala's Banana Leaf
I have had meals here a few times with friends from abroad, and this will be the go-to eatery to bring all my international friends for a totally unforgettable dining experience. The food are served hot and delicious - but the experience to eat their meals over a large piece of banana leaf acting as their plate will always the memory that my friends will leave with.  One could choose to either enjoy their meal using their fingers or the normal fork and spoon (I urge you to try using fingers for the authentic experience).

You'll get to eat vegetable (spinach, cucumber with yoghurt, beetroot with mustard seeds) over delicious curries (lentils, fish, chicken or crab) with a steaming mound of basmati rice. Want sides with the main dish? Choose yours from the vast choices of deep-fried, turmeric-coated squid, pomfret, mullet, mullet or mackerel, mutton varuval, crispy pappadam and fried bitter gourd.

3) The 39 Restaurant
Ok. I promised to eat the best Malaysian without breaking one's account. But I think the view of the magnificent Kuala Lumpur's iconic Twin Tower while dining would worth the indulgence, don't you think so?

Located high up on the 39th floor of PNB Darby Park, the restaurant portrays the concept of Malay and traditional kampong-style food in a modern setting. There will be live music accompanying the dining experience while one basks in the majestic view of the Twin Towers from the balcony of the restaurant (one could choose to dine al fresco overlooking the city or eat in the air-conditioned area).

The menu is pretty extensive that includes a vast variety of starter, mains, meat and vegetable-friendly dishes and desserts. There are no alcoholic beverages served - but nobody cares as the food here tastes better when paired up with the excellent teh tarik (milk tea) and kopi O (coffee).

Operational: Monday - Sunday | 6:30 am - 11 pm
Address: Level 39, PNB Darby Park Executive Suites, 10, Jalan Binjai, Kuala Lumpur City Center, Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +603 7490 3939

4) Restoran Rebung
The restaurant is owned by one of the beloved Malaysian Chef, Dato' Chef Ismail. The halal-certified restaurant is buffet-style restaurant and it opens for breakfast, lunch, dinner and high tea.

I have dined here and really appreciate the effort to preparing the authentic Malay dishes by Dato' Chef Ismail. One could see the herbs grown on the terrace and we were told that Dato' Chef Ismail uses the herbs for all his meal preparations.

Some of the reviews I read online was 'The seemingly endless buffet spread is splendid, with all kinds of dishes that you'd typically only be served in a Malay home.'. That's exactly how I felt when I dined there with my friends.

Operational: Monday - Saturday (8 am - 11 pm) | Sunday (8 am - 10 pm)
Address: 5.2, Aras 5, Parkir Bertingkat Bukit Aman, 1, Jalan Tanglin, Taman Botani Perdana, Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur

5) Melur & Thyme, KLCC
I remembered having buka-puasa session with the office mates here, 2 - 3 years back. And we went back afterwards with smiles on our faces, full and contented.

This award-winning restaurant in KLCC focuses on an eclectic fusion between east and well as well as the old and new, making the menu all interesting and the tastes surprises one's palate such as Crispy Aromatic Duck, Plancha Seafood Spaghetti, Carbonara with Smoked Duck, Peanut Buuet Chocolate Cake, Melur & Thyme, Gunner and Mint Limeade and Nasi Goren Bunga Kantan.

Operational: Monday - Sunday | 8 am - 10 pm
Address: G.03H & G.03I, Ground Floor, Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +603 2181 8001

I recommended the restaurants based on my experience dining there (some of it) and rave reviews that I found online. I intend to visit the ones that I haven't had the chance to dine in yet soon.

Next, I hope to find more restaurants near me so that I don't have to travel to the city center to review good food. And I hope to help the businesses around my living area by reviewing their services too.

Anyone in the Bangi area interested to let me review your service? You know what to do.
