Mickey 17 [Movie Review] | I missed out of watching this one in cinema. But I really wanted to see how he fares in a movie post-Twilight. 

I had no expectations.

• Pattinson didn’t know which clone he was playing until right before filming—Bong Joon-ho wanted real confusion, and it shows in the raw, unsettling performance.
• Niflheim is a frozen world named after the Norse realm of the unheroic dead. 
• The creepers were designed by Bong and Jang Hee-chul, his longtime monster collaborator since The Host (2006). 
• Ruffalo’s character is a clear Trump parody, red hats and all.

In 2050, Mickey Barnes and his friend Timo find themselves on the run from a ruthless loan shark. Desperate, they join a spaceship crew headed to colonize the icy, distant world of Niflheim. 

Timo becomes a shuttle pilot, while Mickey takes on the dangerous role of an Expendable—a job so risky that death simply means a clone of him is created, complete with restored memories, through a process called reprinting. He'll only be printed after his death. On the long voyage, Mickey and a security agent named Nasha grow close, sparking a tender romance amid the cold vastness of space.

Four years later, the crew arrives on Niflheim. The scientists, using multiple versions of Mickey, develop a vaccine against the planet’s deadly pathogens. But trouble arises when the seventeenth Mickey falls into a deep fissure while trying to capture native creatures called “Creepers.” Timo, rather than rescuing him, leaves him behind, taking only Mickey’s valuable flamethrower. Surprisingly, instead of being attacked, Mickey is carried back to the surface by the Creepers themselves.

Back on the ship, an aggressive eighteenth Mickey has been printed, with orders to kill his predecessor, since the expedition leader, Kenneth Marshall, vows all “Multiples” must be eliminated. But the two Mickeys strike a secret deal to take turns surviving. Their uneasy alliance unravels when they catch Timo selling flamethrower fuel as drugs. Meanwhile, tensions escalate at a public ceremony when two baby Creepers emerge, sparking panic and ultimately exposing the clones.

As the crew grapples with the Creepers, it becomes clear these creatures are intelligent, and Marshall plots their destruction. 

Who will reign in Niflheim?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• Robert can become anyone else, not only Edward. He delivers.
• The cast is great in delivering their parts. 

What I Don't Like:

• None I would say. 

Will I Watch It Again: I don't mind watching it again, as light watching.
