Sumpahan Syaitan [Movie Review] | It has been quite some time since I attended a movie preview. So, when I received an invitation to a movie preview, a local movie premiere no less, of course I was excited to attend. To be among the few firsts to see a new movie is an advantage that I love.

Malik just bought an old hotel and he is looking forward to have the hotel start its business.

His best friend, Sam is venturing into a new business, an MLM investment business that he has high hopes for. He believes in the business model and looking forward to start earning big income for his family. The problem is, he needs a huge capital to start the business.

He goes and sees Malik to borrow the capital from him, but as Malik has just bought the hotel, he is not able to assist him with the capital. Malik questions whether the business is legit, to which Sam defends strongly that the business is very legit.

As he is really persistent on investing in the business, he goes and sees Branco, a moneylender that is known for his violent way in conducting his moneylending business. Whoever fails to pay him back, will pay him dearly, one way or the other. 

As Sam is very confident with the business, he agrees to the term set by Branco and his application for the huge capital (RM3 million) is approved. He gives the capital to Ray, the business model tycoon and sets up a huge celebration to introduce the business to the public.

During the day of the celebration, Ray did not show up, his phone has been disconnected and his office is gone. Sam realizes that he has been scammed by Ray.  Now he realizes that he has no means to pay Branco back and he fears that Branco will do harm to his family.

He confides in Malik, who advises him to take his family to the hotel that he just bought, lay low while managing the hotel. Sam agrees to the suggestion and he takes his family to the hotel and starts managing the hotel.

But the hotel has some secrets that start to emerge and haunt Sam, his family and the entire workforce at the hotel. 

What causes the ghostly invasion? And how will Sam pay Branco back?

MY REVIEW

Plot: I like the premise of the movie. It advises us all not to be gullible as there are a lot of scams out there nowadays as people are desperate in increasing their family income. Whatever it is, please do not go to the unlicensed moneylender. Please ask advise from the reliable people and institution (AKPK for instance).

The plot is quite simple and straight forward. There's a twist in the movie whereby the place that Sam seeks solace is the place that will haunt him and his family. 

The entire hotel crew brings laughter to the movie - a lot of it. 

Cast: I would have to applaud Jalaludin and AC Mizal's performance. They were both doing characters that are out of their usual elements - Jalaluddin as Bronco is very violent and AC Mizal is one serious businessman. 

The Senario are doing a great job in injecting funny into the movie.
