Matt Hagen is living the dream. An Academy Award nomination, a promising acting career and a future that looks brighter than ever.

At a party with his childhood friend Corey Bowery, Matt meets actress Mia Torrez and spends the night with her, despite warnings that she belongs to Markos Szabo, a ruthless crime lord. The following morning, Matt pays a brutal price. Szabo and his men attack him, leaving his face disfigured. As if that is not devastating enough, Mia publicly accuses him of drugging her, destroying his reputation and leaving Hollywood wanting nothing to do with him.

He spends his entire fortune on multiple facial surgeries, but nothing works. His face remains disfigured.

With his career in ruins and his money running out, Matt returns to the neighbourhood where he grew up, desperate for a way to rebuild his life.

His luck appears to change when he meets Dr Caitlyn Corr, a scientist developing an experimental nanite treatment designed to repair damaged tissue. Initially hesitant to use Matt as a test subject, Caitlyn eventually agrees to help him. The results are remarkable, restoring his face and giving him a chance to reclaim the life he lost.

Since Caitlyn administers only small doses of nanites during each treatment, Matt’s restored face eventually begins to deteriorate. Unwilling to wait for a larger dose, he injects himself with three full vials of nanites. Caitlyn fears the worst, but the treatment appears to work.

Matt discovers that his body can heal almost instantly, allowing him to recover from injuries that would be fatal to an ordinary person. Even more astonishing, he can reshape his facial features and alter his voice to impersonate other people.

Soom Matt soon realises that his new abilities offer more than just a second chance. As he uncovers the people who betrayed him, his desire for revenge begins to take over. One by one, those responsible for his downfall find themselves in his sights.

Meanwhile, Caitlyn becomes increasingly worried about what her experiment has unleashed. Her creation was supposed to change lives for the better, but Matt's growing obsession suggests that science may have opened a door that should never have been unlocked.

With a dangerous criminal empire standing in his way and his humanity slowly slipping out of reach, Matt's transformation becomes far more disturbing than anyone could have imagined.

What's stopping Matt from living his life? But, which life?
