• The film was originally titled A Tale of Two Sisters, like the 2003 original, before being renamed The Uninvited.
• Emily Browning auditioned for Alex before landing the role of Anna, just like Lim Soo Jung did in the original A Tale of Two Sisters. 
• Although set in Maine, the movie was filmed mainly in British Columbia, with Bowen Island standing in for Maine. The boathouse was also built specifically for the film.

In her dreams, Anna failed to rescue her mother from the fire, even though she visited her mother moments before the fire. 

After the death of her terminally ill mother in a devastating house fire and a suicide attempt, Anna is finally discharged. The biggest problem is that she cannot remember what actually happened that night. All she has are disturbing nightmares that keep pulling her back into the past.

At home, Anna reconnects with her sister Alex and her father Steven, who has already moved on with Rachel, the nurse who cared for her mother. Naturally, Anna and Alex are suspicious. Then Anna starts believing that her nightmares are messages from her dead mother, warning her that Rachel was responsible for the fire.

Things become even stranger when Anna's old boyfriend Matt claims he knows what really happened that night. Before he can reveal everything, Rachel appears. Soon after, Matt turns up dead, leaving Anna even more convinced that Rachel is hiding something.

The sisters begin digging into Rachel's past and discover that her identity does not seem to exist. Their investigation leads them to a terrifying possibility. Rachel could actually be Mildred Kemp, a nanny with a dark history and an unhealthy obsession with widowed fathers.

With Steven away, Anna and Alex decide to find proof. But Rachel catches them and suddenly Anna is fighting to convince the police that she and Alex are in danger. The problem is, nobody seems to believe her.

Then everything takes a disturbing turn.

Anna wakes up to discover Rachel dead and Alex standing nearby with a bloody knife. For the first time, Anna thinks they have finally escaped.

But when Steven comes home, he tells Anna something that completely changes everything.

The truth about the fire, Alex, Matt and Rachel begins to surface, forcing Anna to question every memory she thought she could trust. 

And just when you think you have figured out who the real killer is, the final reveal changes everything.

But if Anna cannot trust her own memories, then who has she really been fighting all along?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• The movie keeps me guessing, who is the culprit until the end.
• Beautiful performance by the cast.

What I Don't Like:

• Too short for character development. 

Will I Watch It Again: I don't mind watching it again.
