Extinction [Movie Review] | I watched this one simply to kill some free time, with absolutely no expectations.

But did I actually make the right movie choice?

After a virus turns people into terrifying creatures, a group of survivors makes a desperate escape towards a supposed safe zone. When their convoy is attacked, Jack and Patrick manage to flee with Emma and baby Lu. But Emma is bitten, setting off a chain of events that will change their lives forever.

Nine years later, Jack and Patrick are neighbours, but there is nothing friendly about their relationship. A fence separates their homes, while years of resentment keep them even further apart. Jack raises nine-year-old Lu as his daughter and refuses to let her leave the property. Patrick, meanwhile, has his loyal dog for company.

Everything changes when Patrick encounters one of the infected.

What makes these creatures even more frightening is that they have adapted. They can no longer see, but their hearing has become incredibly sensitive. Every sound could give away your location.

When Jack is attacked while trying to protect Lu, Patrick is forced to step in. The encounter brings the two men back together and reveals something neither expected. They may have been bitten, but they never transformed. Somehow, they are immune.

Just when things begin to look hopeful, Patrick receives a radio transmission. Someone else may still be alive.

The discovery leads them to a pregnant woman who claims her group is coming. But her arrival also brings a terrifying warning. The infected have developed a way of communicating through howls, meaning they are no longer simply wandering monsters.

They are hunting together.

As the infected surround the house, the survivors desperately search for a way to escape. Music becomes their unlikely weapon, temporarily overwhelming the creatures' sensitive hearing. But with supplies running low and the infected closing in, someone must make an impossible choice.

Will they survive the attack together?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• Quite a good performance from the cast.
• Scary zombies as they are more sensitive to sound and now hunting in packs.

What I Don't Like:

• I want more zombies and more action. 

Will I Watch It Again: I don't mind watching it again.
