Viking Wolf [Movie Review] | I downloaded this movie from Netflix to watch during my recent travels.
Honestly, I’ll give any film rooted in myth, folklore or mystery a shot at any time.

- The first ever werewolf film in Norway.
- Originally titled Thriller in a nod to John Landis’s iconic Michael Jackson music video, the film was renamed Vikingulven (Viking Wolf) late in development. The homage remains clear, however, in the scene where Thale transforms and attacks Jonas.
- The change in the bus was an homage to 'American Werewolf in London'

Being young and moving to a new place with your new blended family could become a problem at times. That is what Thale Berg is experiencing, being the new kid in a sleepy town, struggling to fit into a blended family alongside her police officer mother, Liv and her deaf little sister, Jenny. But when an outdoor party in the woods goes dark, Thale’s life shatters. A horrific creature attacks a girl at the edge of the clearing. Thale rushes to help, only to be sliced across the shoulder as the beast drags its prey into the shadows.
When a mutilated body is recovered, the local authorities blame a rogue wolf, but an eccentric tracker named Lars Brodin insists it is a werewolf. He hands a skeptical Liv a single silver bullet. Soon, a chaotic hunting party ends in disaster, forcing Liv to fire the silver bullet to stop the beast.
But the nightmare is just beginning. As Thale heals, her senses sharpen into something terrifyingly primal. The local vet drops a bombshell. The dead beast's DNA was partially human and only the silver bullet was fatal. Nightmares blur into reality and a tragic encounter under the full moon leaves Thale terrified of what she is becoming. Stranded between her fading humanity and an insatiable hunger for blood, she flees on a night bus, only for the transformation to take over completely, leaving a trail of wreckage.

The chaos spills right back to the town center. Transformed into a full werewolf, Thale goes on a relentless rampage. Amidst the terror, only little sister Jenny can get close enough to communicate. A frantic showdown inside a wrecked storefront leaves the adults broken and it takes a desperate move with a tranquilizer dart to finally bring the creature down.
In the quiet aftermath of the vet clinic, Liv stands over her heavily sedated daughter. Her heart breaking, she loads Lars’s silver bullet into her service weapon and presses the cold barrel against the thick fur of Thale's neck.
Will a mother's love force her to pull the trigger or give her the strength to set her daughter free?
