Hope [Movie Review] | I was super excited when I first saw the trailers. Wow, Korean movies are getting seriously sophisticated!

It is definitely a must watch! But will I end up regretting my decision to watch this one?

Bum seok is the police chief of Hope Harbor, a quiet village near the Korean Demilitarized Zone where most residents are elderly. His ordinary day takes a disturbing turn when his second cousin, Ko Sung ki, asks him to investigate a badly wounded and pretty much dead cow. Sung ki and his fellow hunters claim that a tiger must be responsible. But when more cattle and a farmer are found brutally killed, something clearly does not add up.

Bum seok soon returns to Hope Harbor and discovers that the village has already been attacked. Several residents are dead and a terrifying creature is on the loose. With most of the authorities busy fighting wildfires elsewhere, Bum seok has little choice but to face the threat with whatever help he can find.

Together with retired colonel Nak yeon and rookie police officer Sung ae, Bum seok discovers that this is no ordinary animal. The creature is enormous, powerful, strangely intelligent and almost impossible to stop. Just when they think they have dealt with the threat, another discovery raises even more questions.

A hunter named Yang bae claims he has encountered another creature, while witnesses report seeing more of them in the surrounding area. What initially appears to be a monster attack slowly turns into something much bigger.

Meanwhile, Sung ki and his hunting friends stumble upon something hidden deep inside the forest. Their discovery reveals that the creatures may not be from Earth at all. Soon, a terrifying alien couple arrives searching for something precious to them, putting Sung ki and everyone around him directly in their path.

As the police, hunters and villagers struggle to survive, Bum seok begins to realise that these creatures may have a reason for being there. But understanding them may not be enough to stop the chaos.

With Hope Harbor facing a threat unlike anything it has ever seen, Bum seok and his unlikely team must race against time while trying to uncover the truth behind the creatures and their connection to the village.

When the monsters are not simply hunting humans, but searching for something of their own, can Hope Harbor survive the attack?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• Impressive action and CGI.
• Excellent mixture of action, comedy and sci-fi in this one.

What I Don't Like:

• The end is ??? Hopefully there will be a sequel so that all questions be answered!
• Some parts kept me questioning - the monsters were fast but always failed to keep their speed to the running car or a horse.

Will I Watch It Again: I don't mind watching it again.
