• When the film dropped right alongside the Pentagon declassifying actual UFO files, rumors swirled that Spielberg was working with the government to ease humanity into real-world disclosure. He had to clear the air on the red carpet, joking: "I am not a plant of the Pentagon".

The world is teetering on the edge of global destruction when cybersecurity expert Daniel Kellner steals classified alien files from Wardex, a shadowy government agency. Instantly branded a foreign spy by ruthless CEO Noah Scanlon, Daniel is forced onto the run. 

Meanwhile, in Kansas City, a brief encounter with a stray cardinal triggers an awakening in meteorologist Margaret Fairchild. Her latent psychic abilities flare to life, causing her to speak a bizarre, non-human language during a live weather broadcast. The video goes viral, alerting Wardex to her existence.

As Scanlon uses a telepathic device to hunt them down, Margaret receives vivid visions of Daniel. Her newfound powers allow her to locate him at a government black site, where she uses empathy to psychologically disarm their pursuers. They narrowly survive a high speed car crash engineered by Wardex agents and are rescued by a faction of internal whistleblowers.

Hidden away in a replica of her childhood home, Margaret recovers buried memories. She discovers that she and Daniel were abducted as children and that the strange animals shadowing them throughout life were actually extraterrestrial observers.

Reunited with Daniel's girlfriend, Jane, the group breaches Margaret's former television studio to launch Disclosure Day, a global broadcast exposing decades of alien contact. Despite Scanlon cutting the power grid, Jane utilizes a stolen alien device to restore the transmission. With a liberated extraterrestrial standing beside them, a final message is passed from the visitor to Daniel and then to Margaret. Turning to the camera as the entire world watches in silence, she prepares to speak.

Does the alien’s final message offer global salvation or a terrifying warning that humanity is out of time?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• Yes, I made the right choice to watch this one.   
• Amazing cast and performance.
• Will there be a sequel?

What I Don't Like:

• It ended abruptly. 
• A tad too long.

Will I Watch It Again: I don't mind watching it again, albeit it is a bit on a heavy side for me.
