Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire [Movie Review]

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire [Movie Review] | The latest Ghostbusters is in cinema. I went to watch it last weekend, when everybody was busy visiting family and friends for Raya.

I went to watch the movie after I went for beraya, just because it was still early for me to return home and sleep.

The movie starts showing a scene of the fire brigade team rushing to club where a Firemaster has managed to imprison Garakka, a demon who determines to conquer the world with an army of ghosts and changing the world into its frozen empire of absolute zero temperature.

During the current time, Callie Spengler and Gary Grooberson, along with her two kids, Trevor and Phoebe are chasing down a ghost escaping the Hell's Kitchen. They managed to capture the ghost but leaves the city of New York in a dire state - leaving Walter, the city mayor threatening the disclosure of the Ghostbusters. To make matters worse, Phoebe is still underage, thus she is not allowed to join future Ghostbusters' fieldwork until she is a legal adult.

Upset by the decision, Phoebe plays chess in a nearby park and encounters Melody, a ghost who died alongside her family in a fire.

Nadeem sells the belongings of his late grandmother to Ray and Podcast, including a strange brass orb with markings. Ray suspects that the orb is a spirit trap and tests it with his gadget. The orb shows abnormal reading which confirms Ray's suspicion. He conducts more tests and later confronts Nadeem, who brings them to visit his late grandmother's brass-lined chambers. They discovers that Nadeem is a Firemaster.

Upon more study, it is learnt that the orb was built by Firemasters to imprison Garakka.

Phoebe, who is still mad with her family's decision to bench her, decides to use a laboratory equipment to project herself as a ghost for two minutes so that she can interact with Melody. Upon becoming a ghost, Phoebe is forced to recite the ritual chant to free Garakka. Melody was working with Garakka as Garakka promises her passage to the afterlife to be with her family.

Garakka escapes and freezes the city, blowing the Ghostbusters containment unit to release all the ghost spirits and demons that have ever been contained in the unit.

The city's last hope would be the Ghostbusters and Nadeem, the Firemaster who does not know how to wield his powers.

Will Garakka managed to sit on its frozen throne and imprison the world in an icy reign?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.0/ 5.0 Has it not been for the prolonged family drama that made the movie draggy, the movie would have excelled.

I would say the first half was mostly about Phoebe and her family. The action starts only at the second half.

And too many characters?

Cast: 4.0/ 5.0 Too many people in one movie.

Will I Watch It Again: I probably would, when I revisits the whole Ghostbusters movie.

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
