Scream 7 [Movie Review]

Scream 7 [Movie Review] | Another Scream movie? Why not. I enjoyed the early films and the last installment was intriguing enough to pull me back in for this one.

Will it be worth the watch or will I end up regretting it?

One night, two horror obsessed thrill seekers named Scott and Madison decide to chase a rumor that has lingered in Woodsboro for years. They book a stay at the infamous house once owned by Stu Macher, convinced the legendary killer may have somehow survived the television that supposedly crushed his head decades ago. Madison is far less enthusiastic about the idea, but she plays along for Scott’s sake, pretending to enjoy the thrill of sleeping in one of horror history’s most notorious homes. Unfortunately for them, curiosity proves deadly. Their late night adventure ends the only way a Ghostface story usually does. The masked killer appears, murders them both and sets the house ablaze, as if wiping away a dark piece of Woodsboro’s past.

Miles away from the town that shaped her life, Sidney Prescott has finally built something she once believed was impossible: peace. Now living in Pine Grove, Indiana, Sidney runs a small coffeehouse and shares a quiet life with her husband Mark Evans, a police officer. Together they raise their children, including Sidney’s teenage daughter Tatum, lovingly named after Sidney’s late best friend who died during the original Woodsboro killings.

That fragile calm shatters when Sidney receives a call from Ghostface. During a chilling video call, the figure behind the mask reveals what appears to be a scarred and aging Stu Macher. He claims he is coming for Tatum and is already standing outside the theater where she and her classmates are rehearsing. Sidney rushes there with the police, but Ghostface vanishes after killing two students. Thankfully, Tatum is not among the victims.

The nightmare follows Sidney home later that night. Ghostface suddenly emerges from the attic and holds Tatum at knifepoint. Mark attempts to stop the attacker but is knocked unconscious after falling down the stairs. Sidney quickly moves Tatum into a panic room and escapes through a hidden exit. Outside, the chase comes to a violent end when Ghostface is struck by a car driven by Gale Weathers and the Meeks Martin twins. When the mask is removed, the killer is revealed to be Karl Gibbs, an escaped patient from a nearby mental institution.

As investigators dig deeper, Sidney learns that another mysterious patient recently left the same institution with no identity and no past. The only thing known about him is that he closely resembles Stu.

What follows is a twisted night filled with deception, deepfake technology, multiple Ghostfaces and a disturbing attempt to recreate the trauma that once shaped Sidney into a survivor.

Will Sidney and her family survive this new nightmare?
