Five Nights at Freddy's 2 [Movie Review] | The sequel drops in out of nowhere. The first movie was fun and surprisingly enjoyable, but I do not think we truly needed a follow up. I was not convinced.
So the big question is this "Will this one crash and burn like so many other sequels or does it actually earn its place?"
Keep reading. I have thoughts. And tea. And maybe a jump scare or two.

- The retro pizzeria set was built using real 1980s arcade designs, giving it an authentically vintage feel.
- Charlotte’s origin was originally darker and more psychological but was softened for younger audiences.
- Fans missed a deleted scene where the Marionette taught the animatronics to move in the real world, cut to keep the story moving.

A year after those nightmare fuel events, Mike is finally trying to stitch life back into something that resembles normal. He is fixing up an old, worn out house so he and Abby can start fresh. He has found Abby a decent school. And somewhere in between the chaos, he is kind of seeing Vanessa, the sweet but haunted ex cop he met during his night shift days.
But Vanessa comes with baggage heavier than a broken animatronic. She is the daughter of the killer who started it all. While Mike is sweeping trauma under the rug, Vanessa is confronting hers head on, literally battling the lingering spirit of her serial killer father.
To him, things look better. To Abby, not so much.

Abby cannot shake the memories of her friends from Freddy’s, the spirits of murdered children trapped inside the animatronics Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy. Their shells were battered and broken when Mike’s ordeal ended and Abby is desperate to return to the abandoned pizzeria to fix them. She believes they still need her. Maybe she still needs them too.
But there's more to the story.
Long before Mike ever clocked in at Freddy’s, a lonely girl named Charlotte was murdered in the original pizzeria. Her spirit fused with a unique puppet called the Marionette, giving her a new eerie form. Now the Marionette wants Abby back at the old location. She sings friendship but what she actually wants is revenge. Revenge directed at all parents.
When the past keeps calling, who will have the courage to answer?

MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- Now we know why the spirits are back and stronger. The movie gives great backstory.
What I Don't Like:
- The transition from the past and the present was a bit blur - I have to keep guessing which era the scenes are from.
- The story needs further dive - some scenes are rushed.
Will I Watch It Again: I probably would, but not in my top choices. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't think this sequel is required.
Overall: 3.8/ 5.0
