The Strangers: Chapter 2 [Movie Review] |I remember watching Chapter 1 and kind of liking it.

But honestly, the original still creeps me out way more than the remake (aka Chapter 1). So, what does Chapter 2 have in store for us?

• Director Renny Harlin shot all three films back-to-back with the lead actor filming one movie in the morning and another by afternoon, racing between sets daily. 
• This second installment of The Strangers trilogy was filmed back-to-back with the other chapters which is an ambitious move rarely seen in horror franchises. 
• Though set in Venus, Oregon, the film was actually shot in Bratislava, Slovakia, using an abandoned military hospital as Venus County Hospital and the retro Elephant Diner as Carol’s Diner.

In 2021, the quiet town of Venus, Oregon, hides a nightmare behind its postcard-perfect charm. At Carol’s Diner, waitress Shelly greets a newcomer, Frank, with her usual bright smile. That night, under a curtain of rain, Frank meets his end in the woods at the hands of three masked killers: Pin-Up, Dollface, and Scarecrow.

In the present day, Maya, the lone survivor of the attack, awakens in Venus County Hospital. Traumatized and desperate, she recounts her story, but the Sheriff and his Deputy dismiss her as delusional. As night falls, the masked killers return and once again, Maya becomes the hunted.

The hospital soon turns into a death trap. Scarecrow prowls the morgue. Pin-Up stalks the hallways with a crossbow. Bodies fall, and Maya barely escapes into the freezing night. Her desperate search for safety leads her to a lonely horse farm but she is far from safe.

Her road to freedom spirals into a dizzying nightmare. Every stranger’s face looks suspicious. Every door hides danger. Even those who offer her a ride, like Nurse Danica and her roommates, only deepen her unease. The tension boils over when Maya’s paranoia drives her into the woods, where she faces not only her masked pursuers but also a wild boar set loose by Scarecrow.

Amid the chaos, haunting flashbacks reveal the origin of Pin-Up’s mask. She was jealous child who grew into a killer.

In her desperate bid to survive, Maya circles back to the same cabin where her torment began. There, she encounters Officer Bufford. The encounter offers her a fleeting glimmer of hope, extinguished seconds later by Pin-Up’s arrow.

When Maya finally turns predator, stabbing Pin-Up in the neck with a pair of scissors, it feels like victory.

But as Pin-Up rises, strangling her from behind, Maya realizes her nightmare is far from over.

Can she truly escape the terror or is she destined to die at their hands?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• Wonderful performance by the cast, despite some actors speak very little.

What I Don't Like:

• Nothing new.
• That CGI - not believable.  

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it again.
