  • Krypto’s live-action debut was inspired by James Gunn’s rescue dog, Ozu, whose features were 3D scanned to create the character. Unlike the comic’s white Labrador look or Super Pets’ talking version, this scruffy, silent Krypto brings a more grounded charm to the film.

  • Isabela Merced, who now plays Hawkgirl, once auditioned for Batgirl—though that film was sadly never released.

As we all know, after Krypton’s destruction, baby Kal-El crash-lands on Earth, raised by the humble Kents in Smallville. Now the mighty Superman, Clark Kent balances his role as the world’s most powerful protector and his day job as a Daily Planet reporter in Metropolis, working alongside Jimmy Olsen and the ever-driven Lois Lane—who also happens to be his partner and confidante.

The movie starts with Superman being fresh off halting a controversial invasion of Jarhanpur by Boravia (a U.S. ally), Superman faces public scrutiny. He suffers blow and has to return to Fortress of Solitude to recuperate. The fortress emerges from under the ice, as soon as Krypto, a canine that he is currently fostering, nears the fortress. His Superman robots come out and take care of him. Upon getting better, minutes letter, he goes back to face the Hammer.

When a mysterious metahuman dubbed the “Hammer of Boravia” defeats Superman, it sends shockwaves through the world. Unbeknownst to many, this so-called Hammer is actually Ultraman, an unstable clone under Luthor’s control.

Using the Engineer's capability, Luthor steals a Kryptonian message from Kal-El’s parents and captures Krypto.

With the Justice Gang (Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific) distracted by a kaiju diversion, Luthor manipulates public opinion by broadcasting the altered Kryptonian message, urging conquest instead of peace. Now, Lex Luthor also claims he has the means to stop the Man of Steel if needed.

Branded a threat, Superman willingly surrenders, only to be handed over to Luthor. In a secret pocket dimension, Superman is imprisoned alongside other metahumans, including a reluctant Metamorpho. As Luthor’s ambitions unravel—using a black hole reactor as leverage—his web of lies is exposed by Jimmy Olsen and Lois, thanks to intel from Luthor’s own jealous girlfriend Eve Teschmacher.

A thrilling climax unfolds as Superman and Mister Terrific face off against Ultraman and the sinister Engineer. With help from Metamorpho and the Justice Gang, they stop a second Boravian invasion and close the black hole threatening Metropolis.

Will Earth survive Lex Luthor’s plan to destroy Superman for good?
