Ghost Train [Movie Review] | Watching the teasers online got me interested to watch this one.

So, I went and bough the ticket to the movie. Was it as good as the teasers?

• Ghost Train is the second film in the “Goegi” series by writer Jo Ba-reun, following the first installment, Ghost Mansion (also known as The Grotesque Mansion). 
• This is Joo Hyun-young’s first lead movie role, known for Extraordinary Attorney Woo. She swaps her usual rom-com charm for a darker role as a horror YouTuberand fans are loving the unexpected twist. 
• Ghost Train was featured in the Midnight Passion section at the 2024 Busan Film Festival, highlighting it as a must-watch for fans of bold, cult-style horror.

The movie starts with a guy inspecting a train tunnel. He's communicating with his friend via walkie-talkie, who insists that he saw someone in the tunnel and urges him to look further into the tunnel. Then something appears in front of him.

Cut to the current day. Da-Kyung is a horror Youtube creator who’s desperate to revive her dying channel. As her viewership declined, she is determined to revive her channel.

She calls the Gwangrim Station manager as she wants to know the horror stories surrounding the station, especially the stories of the missing people on the station. After persuaded with an expensive liquor, the manager agrees and shares about a case of a young man who was believed to have accidentally fall off onto the track and died. There was a horror story behind his death - the lady ghost that haunts the station pushes him.

Upon returning to her workplace, Woo-jin, her colleague comes to her cubicle and praises her for her hardwork. When one of her fellow colleague who is also the top beauty Youtube content creator belittles her effort, she becomes more persistent on getting more horror stories from the manager station. 

Somewhat reluctant but gives in after persuasion, the manager shares more horror stories with Da-Kyung. 

The stories help her channel to gain more subscribers. As she gains more followers, she also gains haters.

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• It's actually a few horror stories blended beautifully into one. 

What I Don't Like:

• The transition between stories and current time not so smooth. I got confused at times.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I will.   

Overall: 4.3/ 5.0
