Knox Goes Away [Movie Review] | Selamat Hari Raya to all. So how's your Raya celebration so far? I spent the first two days with family and friends. Now, back to office.

So, while trying to sleep off the fatique from visiting family and friends last night, I watched this one as I read rave reviews of Keaton's performance in it.

• It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2023, and was released theatrically in the United States on March 15, 2024, by Saban Films.

John Know is a contract killer, working for Xavier, a crime boss. He dates Annie, who shares his love for books. 

Later, he is diagnosed with a fast-moving form of dementia called Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. Realising that he doesn't much time, he decides to retire and starts cashing out. 

Before that, he is given one last job with his partner, Thomas Muncie, where he accidentally kills Thomas during his mid dementia confusion. He then stages the scene to make as Thomas was killed by the victims and leaves.

Later that night, Miles, his son, visits him and tells him that he has killed a man for raping his underage daughter. Miles turns to Johnas he knows John will know what to do with the murder scene. John instructs Miles to remain quiet and lets him handle the situation. 

John arrives at the murder scene and starts cleaning and removing any evidence that may link Miles to the area. But he did not throw away the evidence, he stores them away.  

John visits Xavier and informs him of his intention to cash out, along with a plan to set his family for life and to save Miles' life. 

Detective Emily somehow manages to read the first crime scene - noting that the victims could have killed Thomas and presumes that there is another shooter that killed Thomas. She interrogates John but failed to get any leading information. 

John starts his plan, with the assistance of Xavier and notes on his note pad. 

Miles is arrested for the murder of the rapist. When John visits him in prison, John accuses Miles for ratting him out in a tax evasion case years ago and this was his form of revenge. 

With his memories slip away rapidly, can John execute his plan fast enough?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.7/ 5.0 Yes, Keaton did well in this one. I love the plot - while fighting his memory to care for his family, he has to fight time too to save himself. 

Cast: 4.7/ 5.0 A great ensemble here. 

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I would.
