The new song from the album Find A Way, "Another Day" debuted today and is now available for streaming on the band's official YouTube account HERE. The band is from New Zealand but is located in Brooklyn, New York. The EP also has thrilling new songs like 2Good and the achingly funky title tune, Find A Way both of which have accompanying official music videos that are currently playing on YouTube HERE

"Find A Way" has been our motto for the past few years, according to Balu Brigada. "Whether it was 'Find a method to go to America', 'Find a way to continue a long-distance relationship', or even just 'Find a way to be present and joyful.' Our professional journey thus far has been a series of incremental steps that have brought us closer to our goal of creating and performing music all over the world. We have both had to learn to trust our gut feelings and take things one step at a time, even if we are unsure of the next two steps because neither of us is a huge planner. We frequently discuss how we must "follow our nose" in certain situations, but that would have made for a pretty terrible EP title, so when we came up with the song "Find A Way," it felt like a nice way to summarise our experience in creating this album.

Described by i-D as "an actual band of brothers making tunes stacked with hooks that'll run circles around your brain for days," multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer brothers Henry and Pierre Beasley have quickly gained a devoted fan base and critical acclaim for their band Balu Brigada's distinctive blend of irresistible hooks and introspective lyricism.

The Beasleys, who are currently based in Brooklyn, New York, were born in Auckland, New Zealand, and have spent a significant amount of the past few years developing their own distinctive sound. They prioritise dual vocals, noticeable bass hooks, and punchy drums while showcasing a left-of-center pop sensibility and natural ability to skate genres, including such dynamic yet moving singles as Designer and OH! Not Again as well as last year's debut EP, I Should Be Home.

With an extensive live schedule that includes headline dates in Australia and New Zealand as well as eagerly anticipated North American shows with Quarters of Change scheduled for Asbury Park, NJ's House of Independents (October 13) and Hamden, CT's Space Ballroom (October 16), Balu Brigada will celebrate Find A Way and additional new music to come. Soon, more dates will be revealed. Visit www.balu-brigada.com/tour for further information and updates.

Who is Balu Brigada

Henry and Pierre Beasley, two multi-instrumentalist writers and producers that make up the New Zealand alt-pop group Balu Brigada, are brothers. Their songs mix pronounced bass-hooks and snappy drumming with natural eccentricity and relatability and a pop sensibility that yet leans somewhat to the left. They draw from a wide range of influences, including the Strokes, the Gorrillaz, and Tame Impala, while developing a distinctive, forward-looking sound all their own. This demonstrates their ability to skate genres.

Balu Brigada's unique brotherly friendship is the secret to their magic; their love for and gentle teasing of one another shines through in all they do. Being dual vocalists, multi-instrumentalists, songwriters, and co-producers, they complete each other's sentences in both song and ordinary conversation, which reflects how they interact in real life.

Born into a creative family with a dancer for a father and an actress/musician for a mother, they both dabbled in performing during their school years before giving their passion of music their whole attention. A true homegrown talent, they began playing music together when Henry, then 12 years old, took advantage of his position as the older brother by assigning himself the lead guitar role and making Pierre learn the bass. Balu Brigada was formally formed when Pierre was old enough to play in bars and almost pass for 18 years old.

Over the last few years, they have spent a lot of time honing every part of their work. During COVID and the severe lockdowns in New Zealand, this multiplied threefold. "The pandemic forced us to focus on doing production entirely ourselves," they said, highlighting the independence this provided. We have been able to explore more and pursue bolder ideas as a result. The end result is a collection of songs that flow together and are clearly them—"a little dirtier," as they put it, "but in a good way."

They subsequently caught the attention of Atlantic Records after receiving praise from Coup De Main, OnesToWatch, and other publications. Balu Brigada signed their first record deal with a major label in 2022 and packed their bags.

September 23 will see the release of their debut EP, "I Should Be Home," via Atlantic Records and Warner Music. 'I Should Be Home' explores the hazy experiences of finding one's identity as a twenty-something, revisiting messy break-ups and inebriated epiphanies, remembering both the sugar rush of the party's start and the sobering realisation the fun has worn off.
