Smila [Movie Review] | I was so looking forward to watching Smile since I saw the trailer online. And when Jae invited me to watch it in the cinema, of course I said yes.

• To promote the film, actors with unsettling grin were placed in different places - one even appeared during a broadcast of ABC's "Good Morning America". 
• Originally planned to be streaming on Paramount+ only but when it garnered great theatrical release, the movie was release elsewhere. 
• It is a remake of the short film 'Laura Hasn't Slept'. 
  

Rose saw her mum died of ODed when she was smaller. Years later, Rose is now a psychiatrist. She has just admitted her patient, Carl when a new patient, Laura was admitted after witnessing her professor committed suicide. 

During a session with Dr. Rose, Laura claims that she is the only one that can see an entity that pretends to be other people smiling at her before she has a panic attack and has a seizure. Dr. Rose calls for help and when she faces Laura again, Laura smiles at her before cutting her on throat with a shard from a broken vase.

Not long after, her patient, Carl smiles at her and starts cursing her that she will soon die  too. She orders Carl to be restrained, only to find that Carl was actually sleeping on his bed. She is then instructed to take a paid-week off.

At home, things seem to become worse. Her relationship with her fiance and her sister gets affected by the disturbances that happen, or she thinks that happen. 

Somehow, during her nephew's birthday celebration, Dr. Rose gives her dead cat, Mustache as a birthday present.

Not giving up, Dr. Rose starts investigating the weird deaths. With the help of her ex-police-boyfriend, the duo managed to uncovers many other supernatural deaths - some sort of a chain reaction. And somehow, one of the witness  to the deaths has managed to stay alive. 

The alive witness tells Dr. Rose that the only way to break the chain is to kill someone else, in front of a witness so that the curse will transfer to the witness.

What is actually going on? What will Dr. Rose do?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.6/ 5.0 The movie was disturbing - the plot, the act etc. But I like it very much - it keeps me on my toes, guessing what's next.

Cast: 4.6/ 5.0 The actors were great and they delivered beautifully.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it again, especially with my screamer friends.
