Wedding Season [Movie Review] | I accidentally come across Wedding Season while surfing the net. As I was in a need for a good RomCom, why not?

Just like the answer to my prayer for more culture understanding and enrichment movies.

After breaking off her engagement to one of the most eligible bachelors, leaving a successful banking career and moving to New Jersey to start anew, Asha was literally living her live. But not to her mother's standard who think that if she keeps on focusing on her new startup job, she will never find a decent man to marry and miss her lifetime of happiness chance. 

In order to find the happiness for Asha, Suneeta, the mother, creates an online dating profile for Asha to set her up for a 'perfect' match. The profile matches hers to Ravi's - another single Indian whose parents have the same idea as Asha's. 

Reluctantly, the duo agrees to meet up, to satisfy their parents. But somehow it goes badly. 

Realizing the their parents are relentless, both agrees to 'fake-dating' each other and attends 14 wedding invitations, just to show to others that they are dating and to stop gossips. 

Without sharing the truth about each other and based on the 'dating profile' alone, the two starts their 'fake dating'. 

But what will happen when the truth comes out? 

 

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.6/ 5.0 There is no new recipe here. Reluctant singletons on a series of dates, of course they'll start to like each other.

This movie shows how the young ones are trying to obey the cultures and not disobeying their parents. But sometimes it could push them away from their family and cultures. 

Communication is all.

Cast: 4.7/ 5.0 The casting are great. Love everyone in the movie - the parents,  the aunties - AUTHENTIC.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it again.
