Green Snake [Movie Review]

Green Snake [Movie Review] | Green Snake is the sequel to White Snake. So, of course I have to watch this one too. And I am expecting to be wowed like I was the first round.

But, did Green Snake deliver?

The film starts with Blanca and Verta attempt to destroy a temple by engulfing a giant wave over it. But Fahai, a monk, fights the duo and manages to overcome them. The fight claims Blanca as Fahai imprisons her in a gold temple made of holy words. She gives her baby (I assume hers and Xuan's) to Verta before she disappears into the trap.

Fahai comes over the broken-hearted Verta to talk her out of revenge for Blanca. Xuan follows blindly behind Fahai. Verta gives the baby to Xuan and continue to fight Fahai, to avenge her sister. Fahai wins and imprisons Verta to a new realm, where everything is destroyed and apparently, she is no longer is the ancient China but in a modern, post-apocalyptic China. The realm is called Asuraville.

In  this realm, Verta has to fend herself with her martial art skills as her magic does not work here. She fights her way to safety among demons, monsters and zombies. She meets Sister Sun who helps her to fight the Ox-heads and Horse-faces monsters. Sun leads her to a safe place controlled by a giant octopus. Sun teaches her the new way of fending for herself - with bikes and guns etc.

Apart from the demons, monsters and zombies, the spirits living in Asuraville has to also find refuge from the realm itself as it continually tries to eliminate the spirits in the realms by releasing zombies.

Verta courses through the realm to find ways to avenge her sister - but first she has to get out of Asuraville.

Will she be able to get out of Asuraville and avenge Blanca?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 3.8/ 5.0 The film was done in such a fast pace that I have to watch it twice just to ensure that I did not miss anything.

There were so many stories in this one, with so many plot twists that one might be lost while translating the whole film.

And there were too many characters too - I kinda lost whose fight should I focus on.

At times I thought the movie is about the fox-demon.

Cast: 4.3/ 5.0 Everyone delivers.

Will I Watch It Again: Most probably no.

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
