I Care A Lot [Movie Review] | Here's another movie that Netflix recommended to me. I hated Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl and I have looked forward to more great acting from her.

• This movie marks Rosamund's third Golden Globe nomination.  

The movie starts with Marla defending her taking guardianship of an elderly in court. The son contests Marla's action, saying that his mother is forced into her guardianship whilst he can still care for her. But Marla shows proofs that his son has been neglecting his mother all this while and his mother needs special care that only she and the elderly home where the mother is, could provide. 

The son lost the case. Outside the court, the son confronts Marla, demands justice and even threatens her. Marla fights back and the son backs off.

In her office, there's a wall full of elders that have been put under her guardianship. 

Apparently, Marla and her girlfriend, Fran have taken tips from Dr. Karen about which elderly they can exploit: Dr. Karen will provide 'health proofs' that the elderly needs special care and Marla will take care of the rest.

So, Dr. Karen shares about a wealthy single elderly, Jennifer who Dr. Karen 'deems' to unable to care for herself and Marla was appointed as her guardian. Unbeknownst to Marla and the group, Jennifer is actually the mother of a former Russian mob boss, Roman. Jennifer and her son have assumed someone else's identities to run from their past.

When Roman knows about her mother being taken and put into the assisted living facility, he tries his best to handle the problem gently. He gets his lawyer, Dean to broker a deal with Marla and releases his mother from the facility. 

Marla, on the other hand, couldn't let Jennifer go as she and Fran have sold Jennifer's belonging and her home too. Marla also discovered diamonds in Jennifer's safety deposit box and she intends to keep them. If she were to let Jennifer loose, she will have to pay/ return everything that she has sold. 

Dean brings the case to a judge and still fails to win Jennifer back. 

Since asking nicely doesn't work, Roman starts to play in his usual way - via violence, the way he knows best. One by one, Marla sees people around her starts to die in mysterious ways. 

Will Marla gives in now that lives are at stake?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.6/ 5.0 At first, I thought I knew who Jennifer was. Then when his son comes in, the plot thickens. And when lives are at stake, the plot changes again. 

I thought the movie would be quite predictable - but that was far from it.

Cast: 4.8/ 5.0 Again, I hate Rosamund in this one. She as a heartless con-artist is so despicable. 

Will I watch it again: Yes, I would.
