A Haunting in Venice [Movie Review] | Oh yeah. Finally A Haunting in Venice drops and of course, I have to watch it as I have watched the first two. 

There are two previous movies? Yes, the first two being Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. All three movies are standalone movies but all are based on Agatha Christie's novels. 

The only common factor in the movies is it is about Hercule Poirot, a brilliant detective.

• The movie is inspired by 1969 novel 'Hallowe'en Party' by Agatha Christie.  
• The venue setting change from UK to Venice as Branagh wanted to use as many physical sets available for filming.

Hercule is no longer believe in human, and God too. He hides in seclusion in Venice, allowing very minimal interaction with people around him, even up to having a personal guard. 

One day, Vitale, his bodyguard allows Ariadne, a novelist who is quite close to Hercule to enter and see him. Ariadne manages to convince Hercule to attend a seance, in order to discredit Joyce, a medium. 

The seance is taking place at a party hosted by Rowena, a known opera singer who lost her daughter a few years ago. The seance is carried out so that she could talk to her daughter and get closure. The deceased daughter, Alicia, commited suicide after her fiace, Maxime broke off their engagement. 

Also attending the seance are Olga (housekeeper), Leslie (family doctor) and Leopold, Leslie's son. 

Hercule manages to discredit Joyce during the seance - all the disturbance was carried out by her two assistants. Suddenly, Joyce starts speaking in Alicia's voice, revealing that she was thrown over the balcony to her death, not by suicide. Not long after the seance, Joyce found dead, impaled on a statue. 

The detective in Hercule emerges. He intends to show that there is no ghost causing the deaths in the palazzo and determined to find the killer. He starts interviewing the remaining guests. During the interviews, he keeps on seeing Alicia, or her ghost.

Now his belief is shaking. 

During the interview, Leslie who was locked in the music room after he fights with Maxime, was found dead. How is that possible as there is only one door into the room, it was locked and Hercule holds the key?

Is ghost real? And is the ghost inflicting pain and death to those who was unkind to her?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.6/ 5.0 I kinda the know why Hercule is seeing ghosts throughout the movie. But the twist at the end was so shocking. 

Cast: 4.7/ 5.0 Grand performance by all. The boy is great!

Will I Watch It Again: With the right companion, yes. But I will certainly binge-watching the whole 3-movie after this.
