The Mortuary Collection [Movie Review] | It has been quite some time since I last reviewed a scary/ horror movie.

Actually there were some scary movies available online but I don't feel like reviewing them as it was not that ...scary. As for this one, I have been wanting to watch and review it - I was waiting for it to be in HD for me to watch it, online.

By the way, it has yet to arrive on Netflix, so, you'll have to find your own resources to watch this one ok.

The story begins with a little boy being nosy and wanting to capture a picture of a mortuary house. His plan failed when the door suddenly opens and he runs off, leaving his camera behind. Montgomery, the mortician picks up the camera and carries on with his day.

After a mortuary service, a young woman, Sam, comes in and applies for job as a mortuary assistant. While touring the house, Sam was intrigued about a child-size coffin and asks about the story behind the child's death. Montgomery agrees to tell Sam a series of stories about death cases in the house, just to see how Sam deals with such stories and whether she qualifies for the job.

The first story was about a nosy woman who pickpocketed a fellow party-goer. She went into the bathroom to check her raid but got intrigued by the locked bathroom medicine cabinet. When she finally able to pick the lock, she was surprised to see a tentacled monster inside it, which finally managed to grab and drag her into the cabinet.

Sam was not surprised nor scared about the story - too common she says.

So Montgomery tells another story about a young man, Jake who fights and preaches about sexual liberation on campus by giving out condoms to young women. It was his way to get he women into bed with him and his frat members. During a frat party, he brings Sandra, a girl who attended the party into his room and have sex with her. He purposely pulls out his condom and have intercourse with Sandra, condom-less.

He wakes up in the morning with severe rash. When he goes to see the campus Doctor, both of them discovers that he is 'pregnant'. Not wanting to accept the horrible truth, he seeks Sandra and able to locate her at her family's house. Apparently, Jake was not the first man git 'impregnated' by Sandra - all because they had sex with no protection. Jake died while 'delivering' the 'child' (the baby will come out the same way it comes in - says the mother - so I leave that to your imagination).

Again, Sam was not impressed with the story. So, Montgomery showed her a lady corpse - seems so perfect but there was a menacing story behind her death.

Wendell marries his wife Carol with a joyous celebration. Not long after, he has to nurse her catatonic wife and at one point, he thinks that he has had enough. The physician, Dr Kubler told him that nobody will notice if he accidentally 'overdose' Carol using the painkillers. Wendell tries that and while waiting for the drug to take effect, suddenly Carol grabs his hand and chokes on the drug. Wendell tries to help her throw up the drug, only to accidentally throws his wife's head upon a statue and kills her. Dr Kubler advises him to rid off the body, and Wendell agrees by cutting his wife into parts and fit her into a trunk. While transferring the trunk, it seems that Carol comes to life and tortures him. When the police finds him with the trunk inside the elevator, Wendell was reciting his wedding vows over and over again.

When Montgomery shows her a child-size coffin, Sam tells her own story.

Sam was babysitting Logan when a news about an escaped patient from the local asylum was on TV. She missed the news. When she finds a man, bleeding from his head in the house, Sam do not know what to do until she hears the answering machine from Logan's parents informing her about the escaped lunatic. The fight starts between the two, with Sam finally managed to throw the man down the stairs and drops a TV on his head.

When the parents arrive home, they found the dead man and instantly recognises him as Sam - not the girl. The girl is actually the escaped lunatic, called Tooth Fairy Killer who kills children and cannibalises the children. The parents found Logan in the oven.

At this point, Montgomery kinda know that Sam is harmful. Sam takes a tooth from Logan's body in the coffin and stabs Montgomery in the stomach.

Will Sam be able to escape with her crimes?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.8/ 5.0 I like that it has several stories inside it. Just like the Thai scary movies (3 A.M and more). So, it keeps me interested to know more and the fact that the last story is about Sam herself was very brilliantly planned.

Horrific? Not so but there ware many gory scenes so please keep your kids (or yourself) alert about those scenes ok.

Cast: 4.6/ 5.0 Nicely delivered. No complaint about the actors here.

Will I watch it again: Yes, I would.

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.

  8. The movie doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but I like the part about the pregnant man. Stealthing is not cool and it would be awesome if people who do it could all be punished this way.
