The Boy [Movie Review]
It has been quite some time that I wrote reviews on movies.
Not that I quit watching movies - it was just that I was quite busy and also the fact that I hadn't been lucky to get the free tix to the movies.

Every child needs to feel loved |
Have you watched the trailer for the movie "The Boy"?
Dubbed to be the most horror movie of 2016, I would say "Nah".
SYNOPSIS
Greta accepted a temporary job as a nanny to escape his abusive boyfriend. But to her surprise, she will not be taking care of a small boy. Instead, she will be taking care of Brahms, a porcelain doll that Mr. and Mrs. Heelshire treated as a living child.
 |
The Heelshire attending to Brahms |
The Heelshire mentioned that the real Brahms died in a fire when he was 8 years old and has been changing nannies because the incompatibility between the two. As the Heelshire were leaving on a holiday, they cautioned Greta to follow all the rules as Brahms is not a normal kid.
But Greta managed to ignore all the rules and did as she pleases around the house. Then strange things started to happen to her including the sound of a child crying and the doll seems to able to move on its own.
Confiding to Malcolm about the mysterious incidents, she was told that Brahms used to have a friend, a young girl that later found dead with her head crushed.
 |
A crying porcelain doll? |
As Greta has suffered a miscarriage before, the incident somehow made her feels obligated to care for Brahms and ignore Malcolm's warning to stay away from the house and the doll.
 |
Can you feed me? |
When Cole (Greta's boyfriend) managed to track her down to the Heelshire's residence, he insisted that Greta went home with him. During a quarrel among Greta, Malcolm, and Cole, Cole smashed the doll into pieces and the house started to shake.
Will Greta be able to escape from The Boy?
MY REVIEW
Plot: 4.7/5.0. The twist certainly turns the movie around. What was a normal horror movie turns exciting towards the last scenes.
The Act: 4.7/ 5.0. No complaint about their acting. Just nice - not overly a wonderful act but not bad too.
Will I Watch It Again: I probably will if the companies are great.
