Amelia's Children [Movie Review] | The film came recommended by a TikTok page as an underrated horror title.
That alone was enough to pique my curiosity and convince me to give it a watch, if only to decide for myself whether it truly deserves the 'underrated' label or if it’s something else entirely.

The movie starts with a scene of a baby abduction. A couple abducts a baby from a house, while the mother puts another baby to sleep. Yes, the lady of the house has a pair of twin and one of them is abducted.
Moving forward for more than 20 years, the abducted baby is now a grown-up man, Ed, who lives with his girlfriend, Ryley. On his birthday, Ryley gives him a high-tech home DNA test kit. The result comes out and links him to his long-lost mother and an identical twin brother who lives in Portugal. Ed travels from America to Portugal with Ryley to finally meet the family he never knew he had.
Ed’s arrival brings with it a series of revelations that would be earth-shattering in any other context. His mother, Amelia, turns out to be wealthy, elusive and emotionally distant.

Time has not been kind to Amelia, at least not in the way she desperately wanted. Obsessed with youth, she has subjected herself to extensive plastic surgery in an attempt to outrun aging, leaving her almost unrecognisable.
As Ed settles into his new surroundings, it becomes increasingly clear that this family is not merely eccentric but deeply disturbed. What should have been a tender reunion quickly twists into something cold and suffocating. Amelia’s joy at reclaiming her son feels less like love and more like possession and Ryles senses that.
Determined to return to America, Ryley tells Ed her plan but Ed doesn't want to offend his newfound family members.
Will Ryley save Ed or lose him to his newfound family and their dark secret?

What I Don't Like:
- Too slow to my liking.
- The finale seems rushed.
Will I Watch It Again: No, once is enough
