Pemukiman Setan [Movie Review] | There are a lot of Indonesian horror movies in cinema of late. I decided to watch this one after watching its intriguing teasers online.

Alin lives with his brother and almost always fail to make ends meet. It seems that she is being chased by money launderer who wants their debts paid - one way or the other. It is either she paid it all up, or she and her brother could end up on the streets or dead. 

Finally Alin decides to join Ghani and his merry band - Fitrah and Zia to rob houses. Before the heist starts, Ghani advises Alin not to take too much - take just enough sp that the home owners wouldn't realised that they are missing items. But her pressuring situation makes her do otherwise. She cleans up the jewellery. 

Everything goes smoothly until they find a woman being tied up to the floor. Thinking that Sukma, the tied-up woman, is an abused victim, Alin and Ghani insist to help her out of the house. Fitrah is against the idea but finally gives in to the duo. 

It seems that they cannot escape the house - all exits are sealed. Then they meet Urip, a paranormal specialist who later tells them that Sukma is currently possessed by Mbah Sarap, a vengeful spirit whose aim to run amok in the world. Their only way of getting out of the house and rid of Mbah Sarap is an ancient dagger, that has been lost for a while. 

Can the group escape the house and rid off of Mbah Sarap?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.3/ 5.0 A heist that turns deadly. A good combination and engaging play. An adequate character development but somehow lacking in further development of the story/ plot. Feels a bit rushed towards the end.

Cast: 4.6/ 5.0 Beautiful performance by the cast. 

Will I Watch It Again: Probably not.
