The First Omen [Movie Review]

The First Omen [Movie Review] | I remembered feeling really scared and having nightmares after watching The Omen, when I was younger.

Now that I am way wiser, I think watching The First Omen would be appropriate - to know the origin of Damien. Is that wise? Or will I be having nightmares again after watching it?

Father Brennan faces Father Harris about a conspiracy. Father Harris shares a photograph of a baby with the name Scianna written behind it before he was killed by a falling pipe, right in front of Father Brennan.

Years later, Margaret, an American novitiate arrives in Rome, where she is tasked to work at an orphanage prior to taking her vows. She lives with Maria, a fellow novitiate who apparently lives the time of her life - going out at nights and meeting guys as she will not be doing that after taking her vow. One night, she invites Margaret to join her. Margaret hesitantly follows Maria to a club. Later she finds herself having fun before blacking out and awakens the next day with no recollection of what happened the night before.

At the orphanage, she has taken a liking to Carlita, a mistreated orphan who is a troublemaker and claims that she hears voices and sees visions - just like Margaret when she was younger. Margaret spots Carlita showing another novitiate, Anjelica a drawing of a pregnant woman being restrained; moments later Anjelica hangs herself.

Shaken by the incident, Margaret gets even more bewildered when Father Brennan approaches her and tells her about a conspiracy orchestrated by the Church that seeks to bring about the Antichrist to create fear and drive people back to the church, with Carlita intended to be his mother.

Not wanting to let Carlita be the victim, Margaret tends to unravel the truth. She sneaks into the office at the orphanage where she uncovers a hidden, underground chamber and a series of subject files, all labeled "Scianna".

Each file contains a photo of a disfigured baby with a birthmark in the shape of three sixes, with Carlita being the only survivor. While making her escape, she is captured by the other sisters and there she spots the mark on Carlita's palate before being imprisoned. A young Father frees her and together both of them seeks Father Brennan.

As they examine the files, they discover that another baby had survived.

Can they locate the other baby and will they uncover the truth of the conspiracy?
