Haunted Mansion [Movie Review] | This is the second movie that my friends and I watched last weekend. We had horror movie marathons - Sumpahan Jerunei, Haunted Mansion and Talk to Me. 

I didn't realised that Jared Leto is one of the stars. Kinda nervous of watching his movies now as his movies tend to sink.

Ben gives ghost tour, but he doesn't believe in ghost as he never encounter one. 

Gabbie and her son, Travis move into Gracey Manor with hopes of turning it into one of the best bed and breakfast, only to find out that the manor is haunted. They try running from the manor but it seems that once you've set foot inside the manor, you cannot outrun the ghosts and you'll have to return to the manor. 

So, in order to cast the ghosts away from the manor, Gabbie hires Father Kent to exorcist the ghosts. When he failed, he decided to rope Ben in. 

Ben was an aspiring astrophysicist who had developed a camera that could detect dark matter before he meet Alyssa, his wife. It was Alyssa than runs the ghost tour. When Alyssa dies in a car accident, Ben gives up his career and runs the tour. 

Ben, tempted by the monetary incentive given by Father Kent agrees to take his camera out and take pictures of the ghosts around the house. He realises that his camera was out of battery when he arrives at the manor, but continues pretending taking pictures inside the manor. It was not until he returns home and the ghost of a sailor haunts him by flooding his house that he believes in ghosts and returns to the manor, as instructed by the ghost. 

Not long after, Father Kent and Ben recruit Harriet, a physic to assist them with the exorcist attempt. The trio steals the blueprint of the manor from Prof. Bruce, from which they finds a secret seance room. Inside the room, Harriet manages to talk to Gracey, the original owner of the manor, who instructs them to contact Madam Leota if they want to rid of the ghosts. 

Harriet tries to do so, only to be forcibly thrown out of the manor. While trying to rescue Harriet, Prof. Bruce enters the manor as the manor has always his favorite subject to research. 

Now all of them are forced to live inside the manor. They keep on looking for Madam Leota. Ben accidentally find a locked trunk where they find Leota's crystal ball. Then they realises that Madam Leota is forcibly locked inside the ball by a mysterious figure. 

Leota shares the history of the manor. Gracey invited her to contact his dead wife every night for a full year, without realising that the seance releases ghosts every time the ritual is carried out. And the ghosts stay inside the manor. 

The group recognises that the Hatbox Ghost is the most fearful ghost of all, and it seems that he controls every other ghosts. 

They researched about the Hatbox Ghost, only to find out that they are now pawns to the Hatbox Ghost's bigger plan. 

What is the plan and how can they overcome the wicked plan from fruition?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.7/ 5.0 Witty and entertaining. Not so much on the horror side. 

Cast: 4.6/ 5.0 No complaint - everyone delivers. 

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it again.
