Talbis Iblis by Kabir Bhatia Hits Cinema Soon

Talbis Iblis by Kabir Bhatia Hits Cinema Soon | Kabir Bhatia is a household name for directing films and drama in Malaysia. He recently won The Best Director award in the 31st Malaysian Film Festival and he returns with his latest film, a horror one at that too - a genre that I like.

Produced jointly by Infinitus Gold, Astro Shaw, Jazzy Pictures (M), A Next Start Production and MM2 Entertainment, Kabir produced Talbis Iblis, releasing in cinemas nationwide starting 20 October 2022. Yeay! That's soon!

Talbis Iblis

Talbis Iblis is the second Malaysian film to be shortlisted and had its world premiere at the 24th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy in April. And it was also selected for the 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival 2022 and the 21st Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival 2022.

Talbis Iblis, which translates as The Devil's Deception, tells a story of a young lady, Hajar, who is sent away from the city to give birth in secrecy. Why in secrecy? Well, I have some ideas, but as of now, your guess is as good as mine.

Mak Ju, a midwife takes care of Hajar throughout her entire ordeal - and her caring is not without her own hidden agenda.

Talbis Iblis (Arabic: تلبيس آبليس‎) is a book that contains an explanation of the traps and tricks of the Devil in plunging humans into an abyss of destruction. This book by Ibnul Jauzi also discusses the Devil's tricks against the Sufis from among the Ascetics (source).

The Cast

Talbis Iblis features veteran and new actors in the cast. It stars Azira Shafinaz, Nasha Aziz, Zul Ariffin, Amir Nafis, Jay Iswazir, Sherie Merlis, Izzy Reef, Daniella Sya, Zaftfarrel Mikhael Felton and Putri Syahadah Nurjannah. Yes peeps, we are going to see Nasha Aziz, the Best Actress of the 17th Malaysian Film Festival on the silver screen again. Not only she can slay a catwalk, she can also act!

What's In For Us?

“Talbis Iblis is a film that combines all the right elements – a great director, a stellar cast and a fantastic story. Since audiences have been exposed to various types of horror films from the West as well as Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan, we wanted to make something which was uniquely Malaysian, highlighting Malay culture & beliefs as well as current social issues prevalent in Malaysia to present an eerie, creepy, scary creature feature especially for hard core horror fans out there.” exclaimed Gayatri Su-Lin Pillai, the Executive Producer & Infinitus Gold Sdn Bhd Representative.
