• The movie starts with Jiminy singing "When You Wish Upon A Star' the official Diney fanfare and originated in Pinocchio (1940).
• The cuckoo clocks in Geppetto's shop show characters such as Woody, Jessica Rabbit, Maleficent and Princess Aurora and Donald Duck, among others.

Jiminy Cricket becomes the narrator of the movie. He enters the Geppetto's home, looking for a warm home to settle in for the night. He sees Geppetto finishing up on a beautiful wooden puppet, a marionette he named Pinocchio. Pinocchio is made based on his deceased son. Before he sleeps, he makes a wish upon a shooting star that Pinocchio will become a real flesh and blood boy and be his son.

A few hours later, the star magically grant Geppetto's wish. A Blue Fairy comes to visit Geppetto and tells him that if he is brave, truthful and selfless, he will become a real boy. And the Blue Fairy appoints Jiminy as Pinocchio's conscience to teach him right from wrong. 

When Geppetto wakes up and finds the living Pinocchio, he is shocked but clearly overjoyed that he now has a son, albeit a wooden one. After a few days, Gepppetto thinks that Pinocchio is ready for school and sends him off to study. 

On his way, Pinocchio meets John, a con-artist fox and his companion, Gideon the cat. They tries to convince Pinocchio that he is supposed to lead the glamorous life as a performing artist and school will not give him that live. However, Jiminy manages to convince Pinocchio that school is where he is supposed to be. He agrees and goes. 

But the headmaster throws him out as he is a puppet and he should be in a puppet store. With that, Pinocchio agrees to John's idea. 

Turns out, John is selling Pinocchio to Stromboli's Circus. At first, Pinocchio loves the fame. He befriends Fabiana, who controls Sabina, a ballerina puppet. When he is locked in a cage and he realises that he is Stromboli's mean to get more money, he regrets his decision to leave his father's home.

Will Pinocchio ever finds happiness and will he become a real boy, with his father?

 

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.3/ 5.0 The story stays true to the book, at least that one that I read growing up. Very straight-forward and enjoyable to watch with your family members.

Cast: 4.6/ 5.0 Tom Hanks eeriely resembles Geppetto in the book. Great casting!

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I don't mind watching it with my family members.
