Infinite [Movie Review]

Infinite [Movie Review] | When I read the synopsis of the movie, I immediately thought of Tenet. Will this be another Tenet - where the end is always a beginning and then you'll be lost - is the movie starting or is this the end?

I was hoping not.

The movie starts with a vehicle chase where Heinrich tries to escape the authorities with 'The Egg' in 1985. His associates, Abel and Leona watch the chase from afar.

As he approaches the end of the road, he tells his associates 'to look inside' if he did not survive the ordeal. Then Bathurst, a guy that is chasing him, appears and kills his associates while he watches helplessly.

Then the scene drifts to the current time, 2020 where Evan, who suffers schizophrenia, can't seem to land a steady job due to his record of past institutionalization. In order to make ends meet, he forges katana, a skill he did not know he acquires. In a deal that goes south, he gets caught by the police as he tries to escape.

At the station, a man named Bathurst interrogates and refers to him as Treadway and claims that they have known each other for a very long time. As Bathurst about to crack Evan/ Treadway, a car slams into the room and helps Evan/ Treadway to escape.

Later he learns that Nora, his rescuer is actually Leona and they both belong to a faction called The Believers. The Believers are a part of 500 individuals in the world who can remember their past lives and known as the Infinites - as their lives are infinite. The other faction is the Nihilists - the group where Bathurst belongs to and believe that their infinite lives are a curse and intend to end it all, along with Earth with it.

Both factions believe that Evan is Treadway and he is the only one who knows the location of 'The Egg' - the only thing that could end all life if befalls into the hand of the Nihilists.

Is Evan truly Treadway?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 3.5/ 5.0 The start was great. Along the way, I caught a glimpse of Tenet, Mission Impossible and Mortal Kombats.

It has its own plot but the narrative was not clearly stated - perhaps a little bit longer would do this movie good in explaining the backstory.  I also love it if Bathurst gets a little more air time.

Cast: 4.2/ 5.0 We all know that Mark and Chiwetel act great. The others are equally great too.

Will I watch it again: I don't mind watching it again, but not in the very near future.

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
